What Am I Doing Wrong??? PICS!!

I98ster,

As requested I'll be blunt. It's you. Ignore the point of aim and point of impact thing for right now and look at the hit spread between groups. Group one proves that you are capable of shooting a tight group with that pistol. Group two proves that you are capable of screwing up a good thing. You let yourself think too much while shooting group two and you created a problem where one didn't exist before.

Learn to remove your critical and worried mind out of the act of shooting and focus on your front sight and trigger pull to the exclusion of all else and you will be consistent. You can not think a bullet on target but you can sertainly think your way into missing the target.

Check the 52's bore for leading. HBWCs can lead fast and heavily if the powder charge is a bit on the heavy side.

Here's my solution: When you get a group like the first one, stop shooting, show the target to some range neighbors, brag a little bit then pack up and go home. :)

Man i would have to agree with several of the other posts. The first shot group is great and the second is probably due to a slight drop in the fundamentals. Usually when you see the groups start to get a little eratic it is beacuse of breathing and or anticipation. If you shoot a lot it is probably not anticipation and more breathing and a consistantly same trigger pull. I don't have much exp shooting from a rest either as i tend to shoot standing unsupported so it very well could be something you changed when the gun meets the rest. Either way as far as defense goes you will stop whatever is in front of you shooting that well with either group. More practice is usually the best way but you look pretty good to me. :)
