Cmax, if you don't like the 1911, then I'd strongly suggest a SIG. That would have been my choice, if I didn't really like the Kimber.

Good luck!

cmax2000,

Don't forget to take a look at the CZ 97B. A bit large for a ccw, but sweet shooting and very accurate.

Go to the range.

Rent them all.

Then you tell us.

Like we said, its blondes, brunettes, and redheads.

Its your hand and life, carry and shoot anything if it pleases you.

Just don't shoot your Desert Eagle or 45-70 guide gun in the public bay without letting us all know before the rafters shake and the target holders jump off their tracks.

My favorite 45s...

In no particular order:
Any good quality 1911 full size or commander, single or double stack
Glocks 21 / 30
HK USP
CZ 97B
Sig 220
I wish I could have them all!!!

What 45 do you get?

What do you want it for? Home defense, CCW, pride of ownership, and target shooting will all result a different answer.

good .45s?

for the cost(350 new), rugers p90 decocker in blue or stainless is a good buy.accurate and reliable(can easily get double taps )colt 1991a1 is a good gun too-can put hundreds in addons to this gun.could never afford a sig but shot a relatives sigs-229 and 220.wishfull thinking on my part after i shot the sigs.great gun, high price.

You buy what you like most. I know it is a stupid answer but that is the truth. Other peoples reccomendations are usually very biased and most havent shot or owned everything they badmouth. Personally I like the hi-cap 1911 styles, like Para, STI, SV. THe single stacks dont fit me well. I dont think they are bad just not for me.

Ok it's not like I have alot of experience but I just went through this last week with all of you guys and I have to say that they are all right.

I had guns in mind but what helped me make my decision was shooting them. I ended up with the HK usp .45. But I shot alot of guns because of the advice of all the guys in this forum and I am glad I listened. It all comes down to what fits you best.

Do what I did. Go to the range and shoot different guns. I can't wait to pick up my HK. I already have my next gun in mind too. Can't wait to get that one either.
