What 3 CCW's would you choose?

Did you even READ the post???

"from the list below"

HK USP 9mmC
Glock 23
Kahr K40

OR
Whatever you shoot the best.;)

I am not crazy about your choices but here goes: 1) 1911A1, 2) Kahr K40 elite 98, 3)Glock 23

My personal choices would be 1) Kahr 9, 2) S&W Model 37, 3) Taurus P32

My reasons for not liking your choices are the 1911A1 is big, the Kahr 40 pistols kick a lot, I prefer the Glock 27 to the Glock 23 ( I own them both).

Richard

1911 Full Size, Kahr K40 elite 98

As fun as it is to hypothesize, critique, and make a choice, the most important thing is the indvidual's mindset and training. The particular hunk of metal and plastic that is used isn't as important.

Regular Carry Gun: The 1911 beat the Glock 23 because of cartridge and trigger pull. I carry a 1911 regularily, and the size is not prohibitive to good concealment.

Small Carry Gun: Sometimes the big 1911 isn't the best choice on certain occasions. The Kahr K40 beat the SIG 232 because of cartridge, and it beat the HK USP Compact because of size. (I've never handled either the Kahr or the HK, but the Kahr looks slimmer. It looks like if I can conceal the HK Compact, then I could conceal my 1911, because the HK looks "chunky".)

"Being Active" Carry Gun: If I was going to "Be Active", like hiking, or jogging, I don't always want a cocked and locked gun on my hip or in my pack. I would like something that I would feel comfortable carrying with a round chambered, and with a manual safety for a little added comfort while climbing up those mountains. The HK USP beat the Glock 23 because I'm not fond of the Glock's trigger, and I just plain ol' don't like the squeeze cocker on the HK P7M8.

Wow,

Being my first thread I didn't expect such a good response.

I'm pretty much set on the 1911. I shoot these really well and I like an external safety.

I'm leaning towards the Glock because of the capacity to size/weight ratio. I also shoot these very well but I'm not a fan of cocked and UNlocked. I've carried one for a while but I'm always paranoid when I holster the weapon.

My third choice is going to be the hardest. I like the size of the Kahr but hate the long trigger. Also esentially the same carry condition of the Glock since the trigger pull is longer but doesn't take much force and no external safety.

I like the P7 but manual of arms is different.

The Sig is only a .380 which bothers me somewhat. However I use a Sig 220 often and have mucho experience with manual of arms as with the 1911 and Glock.

I agree with many of the post regarding the USP C - not very compact.

Thanks again!

Well Danny45...if they all aren't the same size, then they all aren't a 1911. The 1911 is by definition 5", steel frame, and .45 ACP...all the variants are "1911 based" but they aren't 1911s.

1911 'cause I'm a diehard .45 fan, Kahr K40 Elite because of it's concealability and the P7 for it's speed and accuracy.
