1911 Full Size, Kahr K40 elite 98
As fun as it is to hypothesize, critique, and make a choice, the most important thing is the indvidual's mindset and training. The particular hunk of metal and plastic that is used isn't as important.
Regular Carry Gun: The 1911 beat the Glock 23 because of cartridge and trigger pull. I carry a 1911 regularily, and the size is not prohibitive to good concealment.
Small Carry Gun: Sometimes the big 1911 isn't the best choice on certain occasions. The Kahr K40 beat the SIG 232 because of cartridge, and it beat the HK USP Compact because of size. (I've never handled either the Kahr or the HK, but the Kahr looks slimmer. It looks like if I can conceal the HK Compact, then I could conceal my 1911, because the HK looks "chunky".)
"Being Active" Carry Gun: If I was going to "Be Active", like hiking, or jogging, I don't always want a cocked and locked gun on my hip or in my pack. I would like something that I would feel comfortable carrying with a round chambered, and with a manual safety for a little added comfort while climbing up those mountains. The HK USP beat the Glock 23 because I'm not fond of the Glock's trigger, and I just plain ol' don't like the squeeze cocker on the HK P7M8.
