Were Vegas Killers Stopped by CCW?

According to several news reports i've read a a "civilian may have fired" on the pair. In any event they killed the man. Most news reports are saying the female killed her partner and then killed herself.

This was a really crazy pair:

The shooters are thought to be a married couple in their late 20s who were new to the Las Vegas Valley, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Police are reportedly investigating links to the white supremacy movement, having found swastika symbols during their initial investigation

The killers stripped the officers’ of their weapons and ammunition, before covering the officers with something that featured the Gadsden flag, a yellow banner with a coiled snake above the words, “Don’t tread on Me," according to the Review-Journal.

The first reports I read said that a CHL holder was killed in an exchange of gun fire with the two culprits. Later reports are just saying a civilian was killed near the entrance of Walmart.
 
still too soon to know what details are accurate, or even real. Everything is still too unconfirmed.

Speculate all you want, at this point all we really know is this incident is over, families are suffering, and the scramble to figure out what really happened, what didn't, and why is just beginning.
 
According to neighbors, the couple expressed a desire to kill police officers. The bystander has been identified:

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Clark County coroner has identified the bystander killed during Sunday's shooting incidents as 31-year-old Joseph Robert Wilcox.

The suspects, a man and a woman, then fled to a nearby Walmart where they shot and killed an innocent bystander.

A search warrant was served Sunday night on an apartment in downtown Las Vegas believed to have been occupied by the suspects. Neighbors of the couple described them as anti-government and said the couple spoke of killing police officers.

1. Confronting?

That's an interesting tactical decision. Many courses teach you to challenge but you can be shot while flapping your guns. If the person is an active shooter - you don't have to go all Olivia from Law and Order SVU and yell stuff.

2. People forget the second shooter. Personally, I was 'shot' in the back three times by a GF at the NTI when I had righteously center punched the crazed male. She was just standing there. Yes, I twirled and shot her too. But that started a he said, she said on whether I was dead before I twirled. Kind of funny.

She shot me in the back because in a previous scenario when she was being abused and threatened with a gun by her husband, I vaulted a table and fled.
How valiant!

Anyway, it shows why FOF is a good thing to persuade that it ain't that easy.
 
Isn't it odd how any time the demon who commits one of those tragedies is a conservative, their political affiliation is always brought up glaringly and in no uncertain terms yet when the inverse is true, we never hear about their political leanings?

How many? Not to disparage his bravery in taking action, but from what I've read in the news it doesn't appear he contributed much to the outcome.
 
Don't forget - the Clackamas Oregan mall shooter who killed 2 or 3 I think it was, was in fact confronted by a CCW holder who pointed his CCW gun at the shooter but didn't shoot. At which time the crazy/loser immediately shot himself, ending the spree. So a CCW saved the day there without firing a shot. Nary a peep out of the media on this fact. Find any 100 stories on that shooting and maybe 5 will mention the real facts.

The finger pointing is already starting, lots of articles about supremacists and extremists today.

Seems to me they all miss the commonality with the other tragic cases : all of them were drug users, recreational and prescription, and deranged.
 
By his own admission, Miller was a convicted felon. This was apparently the reason for his ejection from the Bundy standoff (and how pathetic does one have to be for that?).

I'm very curious as to how he got the guns he used.
 
According to CNN, a citizen with a concealed weapon did attempt to intervene.

A shopper, identified as Joseph Wilcox, told his friend he was going to confront the suspects.

"He was carrying a concealed weapon, and he immediately and heroically moved towards the position of Jerad Miller. Upon completing that action, he did not realize that Amanda Miller was with Jerad Miller," McMahill told reporters.

He continued: "As soon as he began to confront Jerad Miller with his firearm, Amanda Miller removed her firearm and shot him one time in the ribs area where he immediately collapsed."

Wilcox, 31, "died attempting to protect others," Gillespie said.

I doubt the villains were headed to Wal Mart for a Coke and a bag of Doritos. What ever their intentions were, they were not benign. If the incident occurred as reported, the Permit holder appears to have disrupted it long enough to convince the shooters to self terminate. Very seldom do violators of this nature persist when confronted with equal force. There is a lesson here for those who wish to absorb it.

Sadly, the permit holder's sacrifice will be ignored or marginalized as it does not fit the as it runs contrary to the politically correct narrative.
 
According to the Sheriff's Office press conference yesterday (I watched it live in it's entirety), Wilcox followed Jarad Miller not realizing that his Wife was hanging back...

Wilcox confronted Jarad Miller, and Amanda pulled her gun and shot Wilcox...

"Immediately after entering the store, Jerad fired one round and told people to get out, this was a revolution and police were on the way. Amanda was trailing behind Jerad and placed their backpacks into a cart.

Wilcox observed what was happening, and was carrying a handgun. Police said he didn't realize Amanda was with Jerad, and began to confront Jerad when Amanda shot him in the ribs."

We don't know all of the facts yet. Wilcox may or may not have disrupted their plans. He might have even shot one of them but it may take some for the police to figure things out.
