Went to my fancy pansy indoor range today.

why do people care if someone is firing a magnum. Is it really that much of a problem.

Maybe this is just me, but at the local four lane indoor range (Diamondback) if I stand next to the wall I can feel the sound waves in my nasal sinus. I just suck it up because shooting is just too much fun. I'm fine on lanes 2 and 3 because I'm not up against the wall.

Interesting...

You guys are lucky, I've never been to an indoor range where they will allow you to shoot rifle calibers or any other high velocity rounds.

I was going to buy a FNH 57, but I can't shoot it at any of the local indoor ranges which is where I get 80% of my range time. :(

Buck shot? That guy sure does sound like he was an a$$. I'm stunned that any range would permit that due to insurance reasons...

It used to bother me a little when someone started shooting a hand cannon next to me and the concussion hit. I never felt they were doing anything wrong but it made it hard for me to concentrate on what I was doing. Now, I hardly notice a 357 Mag next to me. Anything larger than that and I'll probably stop what I'm doing and watch a little, out of appreciation.

I was shooting my Ruger 10 22 next to an AK last time out. It wasn't even boom, boom, pop, pop, it was more like boom, boom, ting, ting. :)

Where I live, in Metro Washington, DC, if you don't shoot the big boys at an indoor range, chances are you're either driving for a couple of hours to get to an outdoor range, you're richer than Creosus and can join one of the country club ranges, or you're not shooting part of your collection.

Double up on your hearing protection if someone pulls out a big boomer.

Yeah ... I was in an indoor range once shooting my .44 magnum. The guy next to me had a .41 magnum. It would be boom, boom, boom, then pop, pop, pop

It seems all relative

Right now I seem to have the biggest gun at my range.

Its just being a BIG fish in a small pond syndrome :D

If i do ever get someone next too me with a bigger gun..I'll
just have to upgrade. Got to stay on top of things you know :D

I just got back from my fancy pansy indoor range
today.

I think a "fancy pansy" and what you meant as "fancy pantsy" are two different things. I expected a far different story than what I read.

There may not be a market for the newest best gun,,,
There will always be a market for the newest biggest gun.

I'll take the newest best gun over the newest biggest gun 100% of the time. There's just something about totally precison made guns, made of metal, with excelent machining and finish and practical features that will make me empty my pockets every time.:D

I've been given dirty looks for shooting the mosin-nagant m44 at my indoor range AND outdoor range. I pay it no mind. I'm shooting legal guns inline with the rules of the range; safe handling, proper ammo for the backstop (indoor), the whole thing.

MOST other times, people saunter over and we end up exchanging rifles. I had a guy with a totally tacticool AR-15 who was just stunned how much fun the m44 was. I'm pretty sure he left thereafter and directly set about to purchasing one.

I've also had guys snicker at me when I was shooting .22, which is my preferred plinking round. Not common, but you have to wonder what they find so amusing? Are they really that heavy into the caliber/phallus thing ?

Interesting behaviors at the range on any given day :)

I had a guy at the indoor range I go to fire a Corbon DPX out of a S&W 460 XVR. High power rifles got nothing on this thing for loud.

I believe the walls actually expanded out. This thing is a 200 grain 45 cal going 2300FPS out of an 8 inch barrel.

I sure do like the range though. They allow rapid fire so you can actually practice defensive shooting. Great folks that work there as well.
