Went out looking at some .22lr revolvers, some questions...

You made the right choice, and got a great price. That revolver will last your lifetime, and the next couple guys, their lifetimes as well.

Strange...

I have a 1992 94SS4 (Stainless 4") that is pretty well made...

Im not going into the issues here in this thread. If you are curious, just search for my posts, and you will find my comments on the 94. Im glad you got a good Taurus revolver. You, and your dad got lucky, and there are good products from Taurus, but there are also many, many poor products that come from the Brazil factory, and the junk they produce is legendary.

To the OP, Now you need the top one in my pic, and you will be all set...

$400 for that was a heck of a price. It would have been closer to $600 where I live. I used to find deals like that locally, but not any more.

You will never go wrong with a Ruger revolver. Congrats. You will enjoy a lifetime of fun with that .22.

The Taurus haters are just amazing.

Don't start that crap.

Of the choices you had I think you got the best one by far old SP101 aren't very common either last one i saw was about twice the price of what u got and it was just the gun. Well done.

I'm not following your instructions.

I love Rugers and Smiths too, but I'm tired of all the Taurus slamming in the forum.

Congrats on buying the Ruger to the OP, great gun.

Nice looking gun. The post was correct that said it'll last you a lifetime. It's a keeper. Love my SS Security Six.
The older Rugers & smiths are hard to beat.
As far as the as the Taurus I can't speak for the revolvers but the two semi's I have are trouble free.

Here is a picture of my NEW Taurus 94 cylinder. I ordered this gun new, and prepaid for it. When it arrived, I inspected it, and asked the dealer to return it, and get me another one. He refused, and told me to send it in for warranty repair. I have not done that, instead, just letting it sit. The lockup is terrible, sloppy, and different on 6 of the 9 chambers. The trigger in Double Action is unusable. The cylinder leads terribly from the rough machining.

I have rimfire revolvers from S&W, Ruger, Charter Arms, an Taurus. None have the problems my 94 has. Its hard to build a solid reputation when you let things like this slip out the door.

It would be different if this was an isolated incident, but the reports of poor Taurus machining are everywhere. I wouldnt repeat something from another owner. This is MY experience.

I also own a Taurus 905, and a Taurus PLY-22, both are excellent, and I say so when ever I get the chance. My 94 should be replaced by Taurus, and this one should go back to the factory and be melted down, but I know that wont happen. Its hard not to be a Taurus hater when you spend $400 for a product, and this is what you get.

Heh, my wife would kill me.

That said, if I was going to go that route.. which I won't... but if I was... The same shop had a 3 1/16" .32 HR Mag SP101 sitting next to it. So, I could have gotten that, then had three different barrel lengths in three different calibers, lol.

That would have been a neat grab. I would really like one of the 9mm ones, but my pockets arent that deep at the moment.

I have 3 Taurus 22 revolvers, nothing wrong with any of them, but you did good with the Ruger, you won't regret it for your lifetime.
