Went looking for 1911s today

I bought a full size Springfield 1911-A1 this weekend in stainless steel with Novak sights, beveled mag well, lowered and flared ejection port, ambi safety, two piece full-length guide rod and a very nice trigger for $639.99. I have not fired this gun yet but if the function is half as good as the finish work, it will be perfect. Also has very nice figured and checked grip panels with TORX scrwews. Seems to be a very solid piece.:) Just hope it shoots reliably:D
 
Hmmm... went down to the local store last week, and they said to stay away from Colt due to the poor quality. They said Springfield was much better, and Kimber was heads above both. Are the new Colt's poorly made or arent they?
 
Go to the store and handle the dang things!!!
Then you can make a decision about what YOU like...We already know what WE like!
LOL...If you don't do it this way, it's gonna' cost you more than 1600. because you still won't know which feels better!!!

I'd buy that pre a1 1911. I'd note that its a reblue and has "cheap" aftermarket parts. I'd offer him $450. Then I'd smile like a badger leaving with my cool toy.

Dad picked up one of those "old" 1911's Its trick. that checkered hammer is tres cool. Heck I told him if he didn't like his I'd buy it off him.
 
I'd love to get my hands on an Ultra Compact but its gonna have to wait till my son gets his first. Thats what I plan to get him for his 21st birthday. Got 3 years to shop and save.
