Well, Well, Well. HCI Gives Kentucky An F-

Kentucky Rifle

New member
It's been on the news all morning. Why? I don't know. Doesn't seen to be "news worthy". However HCI has given Kentucky an "F-" due to the relaxing of Kentucky CCI laws. We can now carry in church and the time a Ky. CCDW license is valid has been increased from three to five years.
Good for us. We have a couple of strong "Right To Carry" groups in Kentucky. Way to go, guys!

HCI may give Kentucky an "F-", but this is what I give HCI:

I would think that an F- rating from HCI would be an endocement of sorts. I wish we (Missouri) would pass some legislation that would at least get us a D-. :(

LOL Good point, Gunslinger. I TOO would be happy with a D-. As it is, we're probably "passing" pretty well. Unfortunately.

In Missouri, I'd like the following:

CCW, for sure!! One like KY!!!
The ability to own a 'silenced' firearm.

I'm sure there are other things I'd like to do in Missouri, but I can only think of those right now. But with the two I mentioned, I'd bet we'd get an F too! :D

But for now, :(

I've been sitting here listening to Walter Williams. It's a three hour show. The local news has been on five times. Every single time this HCI "official" has been getting airtime regarding his view of Kentucy's CCW laws. He speaks really sadly and accusingly. Not one person has been given the opportunity to present a different view.

Getting a little disgusted again,
Will

I tried the HCI website, but I couldn't get all the grades, only up to the PRKalifornication. How did we do down here in Tejas? (heh, heh)

What I'd like to know is how the places that received good grades from HCI are doing in murder and violent crime rates.
Anybody know?

I reviewed portions of the "report" on another site and a couple of points stand out.
One, they are now referring to the number of children killed a day by handguns as "young people", not children. They have also dropped the number to 10 a day instread of the 13-14 we are accustomed to hearing.
Does this mean that others are challenging them about their figures and not just gun owners?
The second thing that I found disturbing was this little gem:
4. Child Access Prevention law -- whether or not adults are required to store their firearms responsibly and out of the reach of children, and are penalized for leaving guns accessible to children.
To those (Yes, even including members here) that think trigger locks are a reasonalbe way to placate them think again. Given their way they would have legislation in place requiring all guns be placed in safes with trigger locks at all times. Consider, if you will, a gun the you currently have that is perfectly legal to own. As an extreme example we will use a Colt Single Action Army. Suddenly if new legislation is passed that same gun would be the same as having an illegal machinegun found in your possession if it were found without a trigger lock. You know what I HATE? Missouri is one of only about SEVEN STATES that have PROHIBITED for CCW.

Vermont has no permit or anything needed to carry.

Good ole PA a D+

Darn! Georgia only got a D. We can do better than that. Come on, Georgians! Stand with me! We will not rest until we get that coveted grade of F-!! (Even Mississippi got a lower grade than we did! And people rag that state for not being up-to-date!)

Careful when you talk about Mississippi . One of my trucker pals told me yesterday that he delivered a bunch of pencils there last week . It was their first encounter with high tech but hope to catch on soon . When they do , well watch out .
