Well I settled for a Canik TP9 SA 9mm...

You didn't "settle" for anything. I've owned Canik for quite a while and have never had any issues with it. And like GarandTd says, it's a great value. Those with the "you get what you pay for" mentality often miss out on some great experiences. Anyone who has ever held and/or shot my Stingray have been impressed with a brand they never heard of.

Good luck. Enjoy. Be safe.

The TP9SA gets good reviews. I have the TP9SFX and it is accurate and reliable. If the gun you are buying doesn't have the "severe duty upgrade" don't get the upgrade. It's two heavier springs one for the striker plunger block and one for the trigger safety lever. My gun had the upgrade when I bought it and the too strong striker plunger spring in the gun made the trigger pull stagey. I changed out that spring with a glock version of the same spring now the trigger is good.

Here is a pretty strong No Go on this gun...Ouch!

See what you think...

As far as SigArms228 videos mostly ALL of the negatives are related to the Canik TP9SF
Not the TP9SA
The one about the TP9SA was after 5,000 rounds and the youtuber "Combat Ready" thought it might be related to the hard life of the Recoil Spring.
Any gun that does 5,000 rounds before a problem is noticed could be extreme wear related...i.e. how was it kept, cleaned, lubricated etc. It's like a used car and you do not know how the previous owner took care of it.

There is this about the barrel's feed ramp on a TP9SA.
You may want to look at your barrel's feed ramp and see what it's like.

So it's up to you..
I think the hubub on the TP9SA is a non issue but it does have it's controversy.
I don't own it.

I've handled the TP9SA. The decocker, IMO, is a non issue. It takes a fair amount of concentrated direct pressure to decock the pistol and, while not impossible, I find it improbable to accidentally decock. Also, I believe it is there for safe(r) disassembly of the firearm, not so much for other reasons. Furthermore, it only takes a minor press check motion of the slide to reset the striker.

Interesting mackie. Will watch here in a few moments. Also glockman, would you say it’s good as a range gun and carry gun? I plan on using this for about a year maybe less depending on my finances before purchasing second handgun.-And the the decocker as I was handling in store seemed reasonable, I can’t see it decockkng while shooting.

Also Mackie, that big no video I saw and its mostly just his politics than any real constructive criticism besides making a big deal of the decocker. The customer service appears to be top notch. So far its leaning towards yes to finalize payment on tuesday when background check clears. Something else Im curious about is I may have job option out of state at one point and if it ends up in a state with stricter laws on magazine capacity if I could aquire a modded 10 round mag for conceal carry and public shooting ranges?

I have shot the DA, SA, and SF. I am looking at buying an SFL. These are great shooters. They are used by Turkish police, so we can assume the decocker is a non-issue. It wasn't an issue for the Walther P99 either.

Great quality, reliability, price, accuracy, and shootability. You maybe paid a touch too much, but even $375 is a good price for that gun. You'll enjoy it!

The issue of whether or not the decocker is a good feature depends totally on how you intend to use it. If for personal defense, no sounds like a bad idea but, for range use it might come in handy. (jmho)
