I was on the search for the best new 4" 1911 U could pick up in the sub $900 range. After a lot of reading and talking to difference trusted enthusiasts. I settled on a Springfield Champion Operator. I ended up picking it up for just under $850 after FFL. I only got to put 3 magazines through it this evening. Two magazines of Winchester 230g FMJ ran flawless. I also ran a magazine of Winchester 230g PDX1 and had the second from last round fail to chamber...it seemed like it got stuck on the feedramp. Hopefully it just needs more rounds through it.

Without further adieu...

I had a local Smith touch up the feed ramp and polish a few internals. While he was at it, had hike jewel the barrel hood...

Well, here is the first range report. I am far from an expert shooter, but this gun made me look OK...God do I love the trigger...

Enjoy the sickness. :D Like the holster let me know how that exposed safety works out for u? Seems like the other side keeps it locked up but I am curious.

My Star convinced me that I aint gonna be a plastic gun owner......nice gun -CENSORED--CENSORED--CENSORED--CENSORED- by the way...

Nice. Those are fantastic guns and certainly make polymer that much more unattractive.

:) Of course a gun that nice looking needs a new holster, preferably leather to really set it off. Not crazy about plastic holsters myself.

Paracordkydex, I understand your point but that is not thinking things through. Yes a 1911 will kill anything any other pistol will, but sometimes i need deep concealment from something like a S&W Shield for when i may be carrying places i shouldnt be and dont need to print and alarm people.

The 1911 is my favorite "fullsize" pistol but is not the end all, be all.

Only a 1911guy can have his brand new gun fail within 3 magazines and still be happy with it, then spend more money for a gunsmith to make it work! If any Glock, M&P, or HK failed within 3 mags, and I knew it wasn't my fault, I'd trade it in for another because that is not acceptable for a modern combat pistol.

Beautiful gun and holster for sure, but I wouldn't give up on polymer guns just yet! ;)

This is honestly hilarious to me.

"Champion Operator"

"Whirling Dervish"

"Winning Driver"

"Lightning Sofa"

"Milkshake Destroyer"

It runs common ammo! Except that it only failed once on the first outing!

The cult of the 1911 is a strange place. Someone needed to point out that fancy pictures do not change the fact that the weapon choked on the first outing, and not like an HK does with their over powered recoil springs (known issue, run +P), but because the 1911 loves to choke. This is some myth making and hero worship.

Honestly, I am glad you dig the handgun. Shoot it well, be happy, etc.
