Well armed with five rounds of .38 Special?

Was rereading your thread. Got to thinking some more and just wanted to say that I carried a snubby for many years as an off duty gun. It was easy to carry and easy to conceal. I used a side pocket holster which gave me the element of surprise. I could wear sandals and shorts and a tee shirt and wasn't likely to be made. I practiced religiously and worked on my draw from that holster till it was second nature to me. Imagine the surprised look on the armed robbers face when I reached in saying I was gonna give him the money and gave him a couple of extra belly buttons! That lil' belly gun is all you'll need.

I PREFER a 5-shot .38 Special Snub stoked with the Federal Nyclad Std. Pressure HP in 110 or 125 grain, I can't remember now. I also like the FBI 158 Grain HP.

The speed loaders print to me but you can carry four to five of those Bianchi Speed strips and no one will have a clue.

Color me a dinosaur (I'm only 36) but I like the Snubby for summer carry. The winter is another story. Give me a med.-framed .45ACP thank you.

All this having been said, you need to get used to the muzzle blast at night and the fact that powder will be all over you should you have to deploy the Snubster. The fact that many, many UC Cops tote the old Snubarooski is testimony enough for me. I hate to admit it but the concealed hammer Smith's are the best to me-------just find a pre-suck-up model.

FUD, after reading of your gas station incident I have come to the conclusion that not only should you carry the J frame, you should also carry a LAWS, full body armor, a sniper rifle, a shotgun and a M203. You have got some bad luck :) Seriously, that looks like a nice "anywhere" gun. I wouldn't feel too underpowered with it. Speedstrips are a good idea though.

First, I want to thank FUD for starting this thread. Lately, I have been second-guessing my choice of CCW--a S&W Centennial Airweight (pre-agreement, of course), with a speed-loader. I know I need to practice with this more than I do (the hubby is constantly after me about practice), but I do believe I could get out of any 'sticky situations' with this revolver. Let's hope I don't get into any 'situations' where I need to think about this!!

What gas station incident is chadintex refering to? Can someone give me the thread number or title or maybe a clickable link?

John Moses designed it, I trust it, and that settles it.

Rusty, check the General Disc. The topic is ALMOST armed encounter by FUD. I would give a link, but I'm a computer idiot.

The only encounter FUD hasn't had yet is a close encounter of the third kind.

I want for him to post - "What rounds for Sauron Octopidians"

Yesterday, I was driving down a dirt road in Florida and my engine died. A blue light surrounded....

Just leave out the probes. :)

Glenn E. Meyer,

I was driving home tonight along a dark Florida road when the inside of my car started to flash with green lights. I looked at the window and saw hundreds of flashing green lights in the sky -- it was the 4th of July fireworks display. FUD

PS: Anybody want to hear about the doctor's office or VCR incidents? If so, let me know. It has nothing to do with firearms or self defense but is rather amusing.

AH - NOW we turn to familiar territory. Dreamland ( Groom Lake ) and Area 51 on the Nellis and Tonopah Test Range are just down the road, and on the north end of Walker Lake ( I'm on the south end but I worked on the res at one time ) is the reservation from which the Ghost Dance originated. Shoot, the sights you see from the drug dealers flying nap of the earth ( one such plane and I both started to mistake each other out in the middle of the res ) are scary enough. And I was completely sober the night I didn't see a thing. I wouldn't even have looked at the pictures if I'd taken any of what I didn't see.
