Weirdest malfunctions you've had

Not a firearm malfunction per se, but I once accidentally pulled apart a friend's Broomhandle Mauser, and spent almost 5 straight hours and pulled many hairs trying to get it back together. I have seldom been so frustrated to the point of becoming enraged over a gun. When I finally succeeded, a whole bottle of wine was drunk to settle my nerves and help me sleep.

Not a malfunction but like Famas,,, the first time I took a Ruger MKII apart,:(
Mine was different from his in the fact that it took a very good single malt scotch, several.

This wasn't a malfunction, it was...er...extreme operator error...but still weird nonetheless:

HK P2000 blows apart on the firing line. Inspection reveals that the internals were corroded beyond ANYTHING that could be attributed to exposure, poor maintenance, et cetera.

Interview with the operator reveals that the weapon was always maintained and meticulously cleaned....by placing the entire weapon in the DISHWASHER!

Knew a Broomhandle Mauser that would do that !

My 1911 fired a round - then nothing. There was the fired case back in the chamber - backwards !!

I had my CZ eject the live round back into the chamber backwards when I tried to clear it. Then the slide went forward and jammed it pretty good into the chamber.

A standard double-feed - two live rounds - is the weirdest I've witnessed. Even though it's a common enough malfunction that it has its own name, I always doubted that it was actually possible, not believing that a spent case could eject and a live round pop from the mag into the chamber during the normal ejection cycle; how could the spent case and live round not hit each other as one was coming and the other, going?

Had an ak I 922r'd with an american piston.
First time out it warped so bad I couldnt pull the charging handle.
Had to lay the gun on the bench so the handle caugjt on the edge and press the buttstock with my leg to charge it.
Damn thing still fed though

I let my friend shoot my, at the time, new Stoeger Condor. There's this button on the forearm that basically disassembles the gun. Well when it was new that button was touchy. He shot it, accidentally touched the button, and the recoil made the gun come apart in his hands.

I have an Iver Johnson Trailblazer that was given to me, I know why now. It will not fire unless you cock the bolt while the gun is upside down. I've fixed a few problems with it but this has stumped me. The last time I tried shooting it, it double fired so I'm done with it for awhile. It did cycle once or twice though.

Weirdest malfunction? That would be an operator malfunction while shooting a Luger.

I was shooting with a thumbs-forward grip and my left thumb was resting on the locking (takedown) lever. Under recoil, my thumb pushed down the locking lever, the trigger plate came off, and the cannon (top end of the gun) nearly came off. Luckily, as the cannon started forward the round being fed jammed and the cannon could not fly off of the frame.

For those unfamiliar with Lugers, the cannon can fire when it is removed from the frame. Sending a cannon with a chambered round downrange is not a good idea.

Well, I've got a stupid one to add. Went out the other day with a 1911 to test some 45ACP reloads. First was shooting out a loaded mag with commercial loads. On round 6, it ejected, but didn't pick up a round. Finished the mag ok. Then loaded the reloads into the mag. On round 6 again, didn't pick up a round. Still can't see anything wrong with the gun. Cycled by hand and fired again...and the slide froze open...couldn't cycle by hand, half-ejected round stuck in magwell. Finally got it loose and realized that the slide stop pin/lever was missing....laying on the ground. I think when I reassembled it from a previous cleaning I didn't insert it that last mm that really counts.
