Weird dream rifles

Hey the 44 deerfield should have stayed in the line up. Way before they came out I dreamed up a 44 that uses a grizzly 44 auto pistol clip to delete the tube...here it is.

shoots great. Thats a Ithaca lightning bolt hold open button you see there.

Oh, I have the dream! Now I just need the world, $, and time

I'd love to take a Hakim, and chop the barrel/handguard down to 18." Reattach the front sight, minus the muzzle brake and Voila!~

Insta-Brush-o-matic!!

OOOh, or add a red dot to co-witness? I need more $.

I have a 50 AE case sitting here and I'll be darned, the case head is the same size as a 44 Mag. A 50AE Deerfield would be a great little carbine. I'd prolly buy a couple. Ruger, are you listening?! (and don't forget the 20 rnd mags!)

I had a chance to buy a Deerfield once but that 4 rnd mag turned me off. I like yours xtriggerman! How many does it hold now? (are Deerfields gas operated?)

Yes, the 99/44 Deerfield is gas-operated just like the M-1 carbine that it mimics. So was the old side eject model that Xtriggerman has, and modified. Xtriggerman you are a thinker and a home gun- smith par-excellance.

Thanks, its a 5+1. If I put 6 in the mag, the top rnd is just shy the feed ramp so 5 in the mag run as fast as the trigger can be pulled. No hicups what ever. Its fun to build what no one else has. Once I retire at the end of this year, I just might build that 35 rem SKS. I think that would make a great hunting carbine. Thanks for the idea Budd! Youll get first refusal on #2.

Budd,

Thanks. Hadn't heard of the 99/44. I shall now go berate myself for professing to be a Ruger fan.

Triggerman, nifty piece you got there.

I do not know who did the work, but a magazine article a few years ago DID have an M-1 carbine converted to .50 AE. It also featured bug bore AR conversions in calibers like .50 Beowulf & .499 L&W.

Wait, I'll google it....Okay, I suck at navigating the errornet, but the guns are out there.

I second the Stg44 clone shooting 7.62x39 and using AK mags. I've thought of that rifle for years.

I'd also love to see a FAL (or M1A)chambered for the 6.5 Swede cartridge.

And since we are dreaming...
A new U.S. manufactured Daewoo K2 style rifle with..
16" bbl with 1:7 twist.
Flat-top picatinny with flip-up BUIS
Quad rail forend
And, what the hell, give us the option of 6.8SPC or 6.5 Grendell along with 5.56NATO.:D

Just had a thought

I just had a thought about a great brush-gun. And it would not be too hard to do either. Be a handy and great Truck-gun.

An ""M-1 Tanker Garand Carbine in 358 Win"" with a scout scope mount set-up. The 358 Win has some thump to it. The only problem I can see would be the OP-ROD torqing and bending because of the energy of the 358.

But still would be one hell of a Truck-gun//Brush-gun, accurate and hard hitting and compact package out to 250 +/- yards. Can you think of any animal that could stand up to 8 rounds of 358 Win 250 gr loads

I would like a lever action 50BMG with a short 16-18 inch barrel (of course it would need and awesome muzzle break or Suppressor) kind of a super power brush gun.

Because of the pointy tips it would need to be magazine fed like a BLR rather than tube fed like a Marlin or a Henry.

I would all so like a semiautomatic 357 magnum rifle similar to a Coonan pistol. If it shared the same magazines I would be ecstatic. *This one is slightly more realistic.

Not really a weird rifle, but I dream of owning an m1 socom just about everyday. It's such a beautiful rifle, but I'll probably never be able to comfortably afford one though. Which brings me to the Mini 14 which is kinda a weird rifle and will be in my collection very soon.
