Webley in 45 Colt?????

The engraved mode I saw was marked for caliber on the rear of the cylinder and the left side of the barrel near the breach .455/.476. On the right side of the barrel running the full length of the barrel in between scroll work was "45 LONG COLT". This seems to me that if this was a webley caliber modification it was done on special order for a customer and not standard.

476 (Enfield Mk III) cartridges used a heel bullet. It would seem to me that this is the reason thet the cylinder of my '94 WG in 476/455 will accept 45 Colt ammunition. The latch on this revolver will not close fully when 45 Colt ammunition is loaded, though it will nearly close.

Bob,

The .45 Colt rims are thicker than British revolver cartridges', probably all that is keeping your gun from latching up.
