Weaver Vs. Isoceles Pt. 2

I use what works best for me and that ain't the Weaver. Everyone is a bit different and we all need to use the stance that suits us the best.

It might be easy for you to draw and hit at ten yards in under one second but the reality is that drawing and hitting say an 8 inch plate at ten yards in .8 seconds is very, very difficult. Look at the speed event in the steel matches and I think you will find that even the fastest shooters in the world can't do it (from the surrender position) that quickly. OTOH the 1.2 seconds you mention is a cake walk.

Ron, remember, I'm starting on my own "command". If responding to an outside signal, I'm slower by the usual 0.2 seconds of reflex time.

Are you acquainted with "Double Trouble" at the Steel Challenge? Two-12" (10"?) plates set one above the other. I think the center-to-center distance is three feet. Distance, seven yards. Anyway, Chip McCormick is not the only one to respond to the buzzer, draw, and fire one shot on each in 1.03 seconds. My best was 1.30 seconds. In 1982, I can guarantee you that no "race guns" were used. As for loads, I did it with 5.8 gr. of 231 behind a 200-gr. SWC--IPSC Major. And our shots were near-center.

FWIW, Art
