Hi. What are you hunting that you think you need a .375 H&H? Just curious.
"I want one." is the best reason to buy anything though.
Pricey to shoot at about $60 per 20, but Midway has Prvi at $46.99.

Nothing wrong with the s2 Wby. Not as strong as the Mark V, but as strong as about anything else being made by anyone else. I have two V2's and love them both. Very accurate.

I have a S2 in 243 and its a tack driver with just about any weight bullet I have tried and I have a older vanguard in 22-250 that drives tacks also. Nothing negative to say about the Vanguard other than its just a bit heavy to be toting in the woods but in 375 HH I am sure you will appreciate the weight

I bought a S2 in 243 Winchester the first year they came out and I'm very happy with it. I showed it to a friend and he liked it so much he bought one in 270WSM. Both are accurate beyond belief for sporters and neither of us have any complaints. Good luck with yours and congrats on your new gun, look forward to hearing what you think of it.

Just because is the reason,i have a caliber for pretty much all game, now i have an elephant gun, cool I think, strictly a range gun,i do reload so it'll cut the price quite a bit, here in northern canada, cheap shells are 80 per 20,2 more days and its here, let you know how it goes, thanks

Cannot offer an opinion on the rifle, but it's just fun to say "375 H&H."

Need to load your own for sure with a 375. I load 270 grain lead bullets to 2,000 FPS for plinking.

That "just because" is a good reason. I have a Mark V .375H&H, a Mark V .375 WBY mag. and a .375 Ruger. All are "just because."

Sounds like a nice collection hope someday I'll have one like that, but I'm quite happy i was "allowed "to get this one...lol. Love the wood work saxonpig

The Vanguard is a Sako L-61 design, used by Howa to manufacture the Weatherby Vanguard, and Howa 1500.

I own both MKV and Vanguard as well as a Cooper MDL 22. The L-61 is considered, after the MKV the state of the art in push feed designs. Sako was struggling to make a profit with a design that machines the receiver from a solid billet, with integral recoil lugs. The bolt is solid and machined from a solid billet, handle and all.

This design is as solid as a Mauser, but not CRF. After the MKV it is the most rigid and solid of any push feed. It is also heavier than any modern action drilled from a piece of pipe, with a fused, braised, welded or partially hollow bolt.

You made the best choice for the money, IMO. Welcome aboard..

"...That "just because" is a good reason..." Yep. "I want one." stated differently. Buddy of mine has every Sako magnum made. "What for?" says me. "Just to have." says him.
The .375 H&H I desperately need is a double rifle. Need both kidneys though. snicker.

So i got home from working out of town, unbox my new weatherby, went to the club, set up targets, took my first shot, wow, recoil not bad at all, reloaded shot again, before I realized it box and a half gone, was hoping recoil would be stiffer ,shoot less, going to be expensive !!but fun.
