Weapons at the Ready

I have a Glock 17 w/three magazines ready.

Until recently I had a full size HK USP .45 with three magazines, instead. ( Sold gun)

I plan on having a 1911 by the end of the month to serve as my "ready" gun. The Glock will then be kept securely away with my other guns, unloaded, but with the magazines full and on hand.

Drifting back through the haze of time....wasnt it none other than Mr. Elmer Keith, who believed that you left em loaded cause a unloaded pistol wasnt anygood.........fubsy.

Got a dinky .22 and two bokken. .22 will soon be replaced with a Glock 17, if it ever gets here. Last time I heard something that scared the poop outa me I grabbed the bokken and ignored the gun, which is probably for the best since I'm not supposed to have it on campus.
BTW, I live in a college dorm set up with every room on the outside accessed by walkways, like a cheap motel. My entire front wall is my door and a 15'x6' picture window. The noise turned out to be several idiots throwing iceballs at the window at 3 am. Sounded like a horse trying to kick down the door!

Keeping a loaded arsenal around is insanity. I keep a loaded revolver in a holster that's stapled to the plywood that supports my mattress. I keep a Remington 870 shotgun w/ trigger lock not engaged (just looks locked) on a wall rack, along with all my other locked guns. The 870 has ammo available in a hollow book on the bookshelf just below it. Beyond that, Everything is under lock and key.

Sciri,
"But I don't do it because I fear for my life. I do it because if people didn't carry, there would be no need for a CCW."

Gotta disagree here (Hey labgrade! start another thread! Thanks, think I will) ... I carry not for others that do (mostly especially those with CCWs) but for that one time when I must use it to defend my (or family members') life from dire criminal intent.

Doesn't take another with a pistol to ruin your whole day. I'm 47, not an Atlas/not a wimp, but would hate to have to even run away from 3 15yr olds intent on trashing me with bats. They'd run me down inside of 100 yards (most likely) & do their stuff.

Hello Sciri; I am an American; and "the
right to keep and BEAR arms", shall NEVER
be infringed!!! Maybe, I have been a LEO
too long? But what ever the reason, I like
firearms. I use these items for sporting
purpose's; as part of my personal defense
tactic's. I've been around almost 53 years
so far; and I ain't had to kill anyone, yet?
But rest assured, let your guard down; and
you probably will be the next victim!!!

Best Wishes,
Ala Dan, N.R.A. Life Member

PS: If you haven't been to The Viet-Nam
Veterans Wall located in Washington,D.C.,
by all means I encourage you to do so. There
are 58,214 names on that wall; not to mention
all the wounded personell, that affords me
the right to do as a "FREE MAN". It's a thing
called "FREEDOM". :)

Which is why I said transport, not carry. :) I have parents in NH and go up there to shoot with my father and one of his unnamed government agency friends every once in a while...

Anyone that has too many firearms cluttering up the place can send them to the “Clearinghouse For Homeless Firearms”.

If I can’t find room at my house (and I take in a lot of homeless firearms), I know at least a dozen folks that would gladly open their home for this worthy cause.

My address is ………………….

Or I will be glad to come and pick them up.

Here's my line-up.
An SA Champion(my carry piece) that goes into the nightstand every night. (what a drag)
An SA Ultra Compact (my wife's "sometimes" carry piece) that goes into her nightstand every night.

A .22 Marlin rifle somewhat hidden behind the back door (for coyotes and such)

That's kinda it for immediately available weapons...now soon, I'll be getting a Taurus Titanium .45 Colt, and I'll have one in the nightstand with the other still in my pants or something, alternating depending on whether I need light weight or not.
