Weak Walmart ammo (reliability issue)

Thousands of rounds of Wallyworld WWB & Rem in 9mm, .45ACP with no problem. But I have had serious set-back (weak crimp) issues with their Blazer brass .45ACP.

I bought some Remington UMC brand 9mm from a gun shop, not Wally World. It barely has enough gee-whiz to cycle the slide on most of my guns. In fact, I replaced a recoil spring in one of my S&W 39-2's and for the first 20 rounds it failed to cycle completely.

IMO, UMC is junk. I'd almost rather put up with Wolf ammo and it's fart-like smell.

Only time I used Remington UMC it was their .40S&W and one thing I noticed was it created a huge muzzle flash... felt like I was shooting flares out of it. It also had more recoil than the Winchester White Box I usually use. Maybe they aren't very consistent with their loading, because mine were definitely hot.

In my opinion, the cheap Remington I get from Walmart have about the same power as the Wolf brand. Both seem a little on the light side for charge
The Wolf ammo I've used always seemed a bit on the warm side. I've never had any problems with the Remington UMC ammo though I agree it is on the dirty side.

Remington ammo has always short cycled in my Browning HP.. I refuse to buy any remington ammo.

If you are going to buy walmart ammo.. get winchester fmj's in the 100 count box for $15.00

I have personally seen a similar problem with WWB 115gr 9mm. It had problems cycling my friend's Sig 226 Tactical. I have never had any problems myself.

I was going to say, "What does that have to do with Wal-Mart?"

all i got to say is a rem round is a rem round. NO MATTER WHERE YOU GET IT FROM. call rem and let them know whats going on.

I shoot WWB through my 9mm and Remington UMC through my .45. No problems with either. The only thing I have noticed is that it seems like WWB is dirtier than the Remington UMC in my experience. Both of my guns have polygonal rifling btw. The Remington UMC does have a lot of muzzle flash though.

ammo misfires

all the centerfire ammo from wally world has worked fine for me but the remington 22 bulk pak stuff lately has been sub par when fired from weapons that never have had a digestion problem. rimefire ammo can be non consistent from any ammo manufacturer though. remington has replaced every brick for me, so at least i did not eat it. when a smith 617 will not fire it then ya know the primer compound did not spin into the rim. i have never had a stinger round fail to fire though.

As far as .22 rounds go, I've been pretty happy with the Rem Golden Bullets. Regular Remingtons....thunderbolts I think...were bad a few times. Plus, it seems that if you let them sit for more than a couple of months the exposed lead oxidises and actually expands sometimes. Bullets wouldn't even fit in the chamber. Weird.

As far as 9mm, my girlfriend had the same FTE problems with WWB. She was limp-wristing. I could run them through her XD all day with 0 problems. Could be the ammo, but I'd sooner bet she's limp-wristing a little. Sometimes it doesn't take much. So little, it's kind-of hard to see. I know because I missed it until about the 5th failure.

I believe you managed to get a hold of a bad lot of ammo. Winchester has had this problem before. I do not believe the fact that it was purchased at Walmart or any store has anything to do with the quality of the ammo. And I am not a fan of Walmart. Blame Winchester. I think all of the American (and some foreign) ammo manufacturers are having QC problems ever since the invasion of the middle east began. We only have one Government ammo plant left after Clinton and they're working 24/7 and cannot begin to keep up with the demands. This leaves everyone else to help and they still unable to fill the demands of our military. We are currently supply our forces with ammunition from our own factories and South Korea and Israel. I'm surprised civilians are able to find ammo for sale.

thats all i shoot is rem in my fire arms. Well all i have is a .22 LR rifle and a XD .40 but no problems with my XD the .22 rim fire on the othe hand i have a lil prob with "click no bang" but i think thats every rim fire no matter the maker.
