I had the same issue with a S & W Combat Masterpiece - the previous one had shortened the strain screw. I put in a new one and it took care of the issue.
I realize that a lot of folks work on them to "improve" things - and I understand why. Personally, I've owned a lot of revolvers over the years and have never tried to "slick" any of them up. I've earned to shoot them as they come. We all do things differently and that's fine as well Take a look at your strain screw - my guess is that it's been shortened at some point in time.
