We Don`t Need The Second Amendment

In my version of the story, Mac, Dave and I take Bill around the back of the building, his wrists bound behind his back with baling wire, and put him down like a sick dog, as he wets himself and sobs for his mama. :D

I sure hope he is not supposed to be a real true person.

But then again, I know already that people just as ignorant as he is, or more so, do exist -- in fact, in some places, they write the laws.



I loved this part, and plan to use it:

“Well, it’s a question as to whether or not our rights exist apart from government,” Mac said. “Let me ask you this,” he said to Bill. “In a country where children have no civil rights, do they still have a right not to be molested? Do women in countries where they have a second-citizen status have the right not to be abused by their husbands, even if the government won’t protect them?”

Bill didn’t answer.

Well, so is the realization that there are actually people living in this country today who can be shown facts that lay bare what the Second Amendment really means, and they can still deny it with a straight face. That's darker than the notion of putting this willfully ignorant dog out of Dave's, Mac's and my misery. :cool:

But people, PUHLEASE. Did I not put :D after it?! For christ's sake, stop taking everything so goddamned seriously. It was idiomatic! I was expressing how much I can't stand attitudes like Bill's.

Don't worry bud...I got your back. I thought of that or something similar but did not write it down. I think most normal people would think something along those lines but civility dictates that we do not share. Yes some people are as dense as rock and can not see clearly where they are wrong or will not admit that they are wrong. Such is life. :( ;)

What I took from that story is that antis won't/can't be converted to seeing the light of truth, because they have chosen what to believe, and will believe it at all costs, even when it is disproven.

Some took great issue with that, even crying out for moderators to... do... something (silence my speech?) about it. :barf: But the fact remains, antis are antis because they are not swayed by truth and logic and facts. My point was told in parable: it may well come down, one day, to battle, where the time to try to pursuade and convince the other side is long past, and the time to do outright combat is at hand. Have you never heard of the notion of talks failing, of negotiations collapsing?

The anti-gun side NEVER compromises. They take and take and take, and demand and demand and demand. And they lie and they lie and they lie. They CANNOT be reasoned with, because they REFUSE to be reasoned with. So we, apparently, still try to reason with them, still try to compromise (but with them, "compromise" means we keep giving up a little of what we have at a time, and will continue to do so until we have nothing -- or at least, nothing worth having).

You have to see that unless something monumental changes in this debate, it's going to come down, eventually, to a true fight.
