Convervatives argue they need their guns because police are not able to protect them. Yet when they try, as in this example, you are up in arms. Where's the logic?

The logic is that I do not expect the police to protect me any more than I expect the local government to maintain my property (I do pay property taxes). In fact I prefer to own these responsibilities myself. "If you want something done right you have to do it yourself."

When one of these talking cameras is successful in stopping a violent crime and not just pointing out bad manners then we can discuss their effectiveness.

G.W. Bush's rhetoric about "spreading freedom and democracy" is liberal in the purest meaning of the term. Well... offensive neo-liberal would be the correct terminology, but that's beside the point and does not change the fact that these terms have become warped well past their original meanings. The word liberal means nothing now that its Woodrow Wilson-ish meaning has been lost to history. It has been manipulated so much that now it is just an insulting thing to call eastern democrats.

I'll be down at the Oak Leaf... pass the clove-juice and set up the chess-board.
