Re post #1 -- Brady Campaign "more moderate"? Not likely. They are as far out anti 2nd as ever. The language is toned down as nothing more than a smoke screen. The spot on this leopard are the same today as ever.

I note that David Kopel has done an analysis of the effects of Mayor Bloomberg's "gunshow" bill S.843, which now has 17 co-sponsors in the Senate.

Some important points to be concerned about:

1. Gun show promoters must register with the Attorney General - Sec. 932(a)

2. Promoters must collect and make available to the Federal government records of every single person who sells or even offers to sell a firearm.

3. The Promoter must verify the picture ID, and get the person's signature that they have been notified of the regulatory effects of the bill.

Also as Kopel points out, "Bloomberg authorizes regulations for mandatory reporting of information that would not even be required for a sale at a gun store. The additional information could include how often the seller had used the gun, if the gun had ever been used for self-defense, where the seller obtained the gun, what the buyer planned to do with the gun, how the buyer planned to store the gun, and much more."

This bill was introduced on April 21 and currently has 17 co-sponsors - this represents a little over half of the solid anti-gun votes in the Senate. Currently it is sitting in the Senate Judiciary Committee. While it strikes me as extremely unlikely that this bill is going to go anywhere this session, it is definitely the type of bill we don't want to go anywhere and is probably worth a mention the next time you contact your elected Representatives.

And a big thanks to gc70 for his great work in keeping this thread updated. There may not be a lot of responses to your work; but I guarantee it doesn't go unnoticed.

I just finished reading that 19 page piece of political deceit and spent 15 minutes puking pure concentrated rage and wondering how it is even legal that they misquote, misinterperet, and misdirect the American people like this.
These people are literally evil. They have a prejudicial HATE of guns and the gun community at large and will do whatever it takes short of shooting us to brain the public into seeing things their way, including, but not limited to, repeatedly screaming outright lies in their faces until they take it as gospel truth.

I... I don't,;
I don't even have a word for what I feel right now. I want to crush something, and scream, and yet I'm so confused and dumbfounded by the audacity of these people that I'm baffled...

... and enraged...

... I'm Baff-aged... and I don't know what to do!!!

Please some half-educated person volunteer to go one national television and just plant these people in the dirt with some sound logic and common sense.
Please.

I hear you my friend, so many people slumber..... Even some of the most senior people (people I respect) on this forum seem to think it just can't happen.

I just keep wearing my tinfoil hat and hope I am wrong.

It's not that some of us believe it can't happen, it's that we believe it won't happen... At least not in this congressional session.

The reasons are varied, but include the fact that with all the other social engineering the Democratic majority want passed, anti-gun laws are rather low on the list.

Look closely at the updates that gc70 is providing. Many, if not most of the bills, are going nowhere. Shortly, there will be a new Congress and it must start all over from scratch, whoever wins the majority.

Now add in the fact that our opponents (Brady Campaign & such) are losing lots of support. This can be seen in their financial statements to the FEC. See here.

Crime in general is at an all time low, despite the fact that gun ownership has risen to all time highs. Their rhetoric simply isn't being bought. See this thread.

Now add in the current victories in the Courts, it all adds up to our side gaining momentum. Slowly, yes. But nevertheless, it is a good thing for our side.

Should our current President win another term, and the Dems still retain leadership in Congress, then I think all bets are off.
