Washington Times - Top Ten Handguns

Those numbers come from the ATF. Here's the report -- http://www.atf.gov/files/statistics/...ort-report.pdf.

It does list Kimber making 104,303 pistols (ATF uses "pistol" for semi-autos and "revolver" for, uh, revolvers).

That's very interesting. Ten years ago, Kimber ruled the 1911 roost, which consisted of a half-dozen major players, selling 30k-35k pistols a year.
Now, with twice as many competitors, they sell three times as many pistols?
Record gun sales, ammo shelves bare, but I see no increase in the number of people actually shooting? You'd think people would be standing shoulder to shoulder, elbowing each other for space on the firing line as they fire 1000 rounds each day, but I'm not seeing (or hearing) it.

There is some evidence to suggest an increase in the number of gun owners. Gun sales have increased over the last decade.

There has been an increase in the variety of semis offered by all manufacturers almost across the board.

Interesting that Glock has produced only 23,752 guns at the Georgia plant. Kimber produced 104,303 pistols in multiple calibers at it's Yonkers address.
