Washington state man shoots gun in air, and says because of Biden.

Let's see how this plays. Once again, though - it shows the need for the armed citizen to have some training or at least do a modicum of study.

Umm- Not to be rude, but I think It means for armed citizen's to have a brain bigger than a pea.:D. I know Biden said it,but for anyone to put any credibility in it , just shows how dumb they are.

I have no intention of, or interest in, "reforming" Jeffrey Barton. If I were empaneled on his jury, I would vote to acquit him. Imagine the embarrassment to the Administration when the press reports Barton's jury, in a fit of "jury nullification," acquitted him because of specific and detailed advice from the Vice-President. Hmmm, it might be another two or three years before we hear from Mr. Biden again.

So you are advocating Barton's breaking of the law and if you were on the jury you would not take the evidence into consideration as would be your juror instructions, but instead would vote based on your political views? Wow.

Even if Barton is honest and took Biden's advice, he took it completely out of context. Biden never gave advice to Barton about what to do if somebody is breaking in to your car. Barton misapplied information he heard Biden telling another person.

I would supeona Joe Biden to testify in the trial (cameras rolling). If found guilty, I would sue the Vice President for negligence.

I think this is a very important distinction. Let's say I put on my qualified instructor hat and you sign up for a self-defense class. Under those pretenses, I take your money and teach you a bunch of mumbo-jumbo...let's say it's OK to draw and fire if someone makes a "yo momma" joke.

You do so, and you get thrown in the pokey. You might have a case that you acted on bad information from a source presumed credible.

However, claiming that something overheard on the television justified your actions...well, good luck. By that yardstick, every piece of claptrap I hear from celebrities or at the gun shop counter would be admissible.

I wouldn't be surprised if the judge and jury took an even more hostile view of Barton based on this ludicrous defense.

What exactly is he being charged with anyway? Firing a *shotgun* in the air might not be legal, but OTOH it's not dangerous unless you're shooting slugs. Bird hunters shoot into the air all the time. Stupidity needs to be punished, but the punishment should fit the crime.

"I find you guilty of disturbing the peace, and sentence you to one night in jail and a $75 fine. Pay the bailiff" <bangs Internet gavel>

Playing devil advocate.....

But if the White House says to start locking our doors at night because there is xyz psycho roaming around... Arent we supposed to do it?

He doesn't live in Wilmington anything. He lives in Vancouver, WA
Yep, your right... they quoted a deputy from Delaware regarding city laws, apparently to show that Biden's advice breaks the laws of his own township.
Either way, its still county enforcing city code, which is a bit unusual unless the city has no PD and contracts its enforcement to the county sheriff.

Acting on any politicians advice, democrat or republican, is a bad idea.
Every single peep out of their mouths is intended to further their agenda, not to earnestly inform us of anything.

Once again we have a fellow gun owner doing something that leaves the impression that we gun owners are unreasonable and foolish.

The silver lining is that this particular instance also brings Biden's idiocy back into public focus.
