Washington Post: Bush voters are Hicks!

Some of you may find this to be an uncharitable observation, one that might even betray a subtle liberal-elite media bias. I assure you, nothing could be further from the truth.

Mr. Weingarten is really kidding himself, or else he thinks he's playing to an audience of morons. There's nothing "subtle" about his sniggering little essay in distortion. IMO it's one of the grosser instances of media elitism since James Carville's "trailer trash" comment.

And, of course, when an ultra-leftist like Mr. Weingarten assures me that he's telling the truth, I know darned well that he's lying and knows it.

As far as I'm concerned, one "hick" has far more sense, exhibits far greater decency, and is a much better American than fifty Gene Weingartens.

The biggest 'kick-in-the-pants' for Mr. Weinergarten is that the biggest, smelliest, camo-clad, mouth-breathing, illiterate, hick in the entire country cast a vote that was exactly equal to his. :)

Elitists like him sicken me. :barf:

Better educated???

Maybe better educated in the doctrines of socialism.

What an idiot. The first amendment gives idiots the freedom to say it, and us the opportunity to spot them.

In a few months I'll be defending my thesis. I guess that'll make me a gun-toting hick with a Ph.D. in Engineering!

:D :D :D

The man uses "hick" like some kind of insult. I'm not insulted.

Dave R--hick with MBA.

This editorial reinforces the view that the past election polarized the coutry, urban vs. suburban/rural.

This is exactly why we have the Electoral College. So the dense urban areas cannot run the rest of the country.

My response to Mr. Weingarten yesterday:

Mr. Weingarten:

I red yur artikle in The Washigton Post Magazine this mornin an's I gots to say say I didn't finds it so funny. Now's I comes from one of the handful of Counties in MaryLand that voted fors Bush (When's I says handful, it's 'cause I's don't know the exact number; I's can count higher than's a handfull. I's can count to twenty with my shoes off, twenty-one if I's already left my fly open).

Let's me ask you one thing: If'n that boy who robbed a bank in Carolina left a "mile long trail of bills" an's was tracked down an hour later, would that trail of bills lasted more's than two seconds in yer fine city? Hell, I bet you boys don't even have any huntin' dawgs to track down yer smarty city crooks. And you's pokin' fun at us?

One's of my favorites shootin' iron magazine writers once said that's specializations' fer insects, and I's reckon that jus might be why's you's ant-farm city folk voted for Gore. You's guys are so specialized in your's own little worlds, that'sn you's need someone's like Gore to look after you. My's great-great granpappy didn't need no gubbment boy with "no controlling authority" running his life, so'sn I reckon I's don't need none neither. Guess'n I'm not smart enough to live in yer city, but maybe, with a little help from my honest friends and kin, I'm smart enough to live on my own.

Yup, another hick here.

Hick with MD who spends his simple hickish time doing complex operations to save peoples' lives.

An informal survey of educational level on this board would be interesting and I'm expecting significantly better than the norm.

KODB, I remember a thread regarding the education level of TFL members several months ago. Tried to find it, but could not. So I'll start another one in the General Forum.

From what I remember, the education level of TFL members was pretty high. Lots of EE, CS computer jocks (geeks with guns), quite a few MDs.

Just tell that bu**-head to stay in the Blue zone will unkle Jessie!

Hey Dennis, I think us hicks call what Dave quoted a "Hi-coo"! I have to admit I got a kinda kick out of this article when I tried to figure out how a seemingly intelligent person came up with this paralle! Heck, he could have done it with any number of inanimate objects. How about, a correlation between Gore voters and ability to fix a running toilet, ... had soccer ball stickers stuck to their vehicle,.... don't know what duct tape is for.... the list goes on! Helpless victims, every one of them you can bet on that one!

In a previous post, somebody compared murder rates in the Gore counties with murder rates in the Bush counties. As you would guess, average murder rate in the Gore counties was several times (10 times?) the rate in Bush counties.

I wish I could compare average population growth rates among Bush counties vs. Gore counties. Theory: Bush counties are growing, Gore counties are shrinking.

If so, that would make Gore the candidate of:
-violent, repeat offenders
-"sheeples" too "enlightened" to defend themselves
-the places people are leaving.
