You could get a spring kit, which contains three different reduced pull springs. I remember that the 9lb spring wouldn't fire some 357s consistently, but was fine for 38 specials. You could start with the 12lb and see how that feels.
If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about getting a buttery smooth trigger. Unless you're doing some serious target/competition shooting, it doesn't really matter that much. Just try the reduced hammer spring and practice some shooting.
If you're really handy, replace the trigger return spring with the one that comes with the kit. I personally don't think that one needed to be changed.
