Think my next tat will be some binary code. Then have it etched into my HK Tactical. :D Or maybe a bar code on the back of my bald head. And if you scan it, it'll read out "Old Bald Guy with a Gun".

Original glance at it looked like an STI frame buildup. But it was hard to concentrate on the gun with her in the picture. :p

these new directors is seems are from a new school... of when doing an action/fight scene... let's just shake the camera to show how intense it is...

I can't wait for Public Enemies to come out. Should be like a prequel to Heat, same jaw-dropping action, vintage setting. I used to read books on the Depression and pipe dream of Michael Mann realistically directing those massive gun battles. Now it's happening as you read this. Awesome. Now the world will see the Winchester 07 when it was the weapon to have. I've never seen a movie that featured one, that I caught. Mann gets the details right, and knows his iron. I haven't read the script but there should be no less than 5 drawn out slobberknockers of rolling rifle/subgun battles that'll make your heart pound. Throw in Mann's style-that professionalism and coolness of charecters, the music, ambience, this is already my alltime favorite movie and it doesn't come out till next summer, but rest assured this will be the Private Ryan of gangster (or true crime drama, period) movies. Imagine the downtown scene in Heat, several times over in the same movie.
Though I have heard a lot of it deals with the odd relationship between Hoover and Melvin Purvis. It even has my favorite old-time MMA fighter Don Frye in it as an agent.

Really, you're going to see mint Terraplanes and Ford V-8's get totalled by gunfire and not some CGI crap, but an accurate and intense portrayal of some hardcore action that happened around 75 years ago. So don't worry, there's one film coming out that will deliver the goods if you love a good shoot 'em up. I'm pretty excited. Wonder if the Biograph theatre will be showing it.

You know, before I saw the picture in question - I thought I knew the answer for certain. I have actually seen first hand a different pistol that Angelina Jolie used in that movie. (I believe it was a baby eagle)

From my discussions with an armorer in motion pictures, most if not all movie handguns are chambered in 9mm or .45 (except revolvers) because the blanks, spring weight, and other proprietary information regarding making a blank firing movie gun have already been worked out and are reliable.

Its been awhile since I have spoken to my movie armorer but next time I see him I will ask about that specific gun. Its likely in L.A. but the guy should be able to answer any questions you might have.

Also, keep in mind that on lower budget movies, whenever the gun isn't actually being fired, you are likely seeing an airsoft gun that has been modified to look like its blank firing counterpart.

I'd like to know why there's a little sideplate covering the name and serial number (just behind the tip of the slide stop pin)? The letters didn't look good on film?

It almost looks like tape. Why? Who knows with Hollywood?

I'm guessing that Olympic Arms wouldn't pay the filmmakers.

BTW I'm serious. It's possible that the studio has sold product placement rights to gunmakers in the past and didn't want to be accused of unfairness (in today's freeze-frame DVD world) for giving an Olympic product such a prominent role in the film without requiring payment.

It is a Safari Arms Matchmaster 1911 clone with a Wilson 10 round magazine, titanium Yanek compensator, engraved ivory grips, and custom engraving throughout the film.

cool looking gun

Okay.I finally saw the film and I have to say;decent flick!,however inconceivible in every respect....Now the gun Angie is holding up on the cover is unmistakebly a "Matchmaster"1911 Colt derivitave,in .45 ACP Cal.But for some reason,it seems to have an extened clip.Usually handguns of lower calibres which have extended clips tend to have full auto capability..;but I've never seen or heard of a .45 full auto pistol by any marque. If it were indeed a full auto 45 acp,Jolie wouldn't be able to fire it!Not w/ 2 hands, and certainly not w/ 1 hand.

here ya go

i'm guessing the reason why the serial#'s covered up by the side plate's because engravings are more aesthetically pleasing:cool:

i hear that

absolutO,i completely agree w/ you...if i were to purchase a gun for a couple grand it would look nice sure, but would be more catered toward functionality.that gun is beautiful but give me a break!

in case anyone was ever wodering

i don't know if anyone here has ever seen the film behind enemy lines w/ owen wilson.but in case anyone was wondering what kind of weapon was used during the seen when burnett is first noticed by the enemy, and being fired upon....it was a twin 30mm AAG mounted on an M53/59 chassis

so we all agree, we want AJ but we wouldn't spend that kind of money on a gun like that?

and I'd only "want" Aj after she washed off all the tats.

Sweet lookin' pistol, which is a rarity in Hollywood. I thought those were made by Safari Arms long before the Olympic Arms affiliation. I still don't understand what everybody sees in the skanky heifer holding it though. :p
