JMC,
You are probably right that there are bigger jerks in the industry. But for now he is on the top of my list. I too was able to talk to him personally on the phone, which I will give him credit for, but I feel he didn't give me good customer service. He didn't even want to try and get these special order guns for me, even though a month earlier his right hand man told me the guns were on there way. So here my money sat for over a month without any of them telling me they didn't order the pistols. (It was a sizeable amount of cash too) And when I called him he gives me the run around. I was so mad after our conversation I wrote him an e-mail telling him how disappointed I was and that I would sell all my Walther's and never have a good thing to say about Walther again. Apparently this e-mail found it's way to Germany, because a week later I got a call from Earl. The first words out of his mouth were "Germany would sincerely like to appologize for the way you have been treated" Earl was extremely helpfull and he renewed my confidence in Walther. I now believe that Walther is truely commited to their customers and wants to ensure that their products are top notch quality and reliable. I think they have made some poor decisions in the people and companies that import their product to the States. I'm really hoping that we'll see a new distributer of Walther products in the near future. They need to distance themselves from S&W. Someone said that S&W and Walther sure seemed to be buddy buddy at the Shot Show. Well of course S&W was really warmed up to Walther, because during the past few years Walther was their only lifesaver. If they didn't have the import rights to Walther, they would have been in much dire straights from their Clinton agreement. Now that S&W is American owned again, I'm hoping that they'll straighten thing up. I love S&W revolvers, but their pistols leave a lot to be desired. And I don't think they really care about getting Walther products to the American public. In fact I think they would rather distroy the market share that Walther has and replace it with their own products.
I'll get off my soapbox now.
