Walther P99 (40 S&W)

Sorry, I am unable to tell you the name of the distributor that my FFL spoke with in regard to the 9x19 military P99 Walthers but, I had him specifically ask if the guns they had did in fact have the German proof marks and the distributor said that they did not.

I believe your FFL's distributor is mistaken. Or he doesn't know what to look for. Unless someone can produce evidence otherwise (pictures please), there are no 9mm S&W produced Walther P99 slides. Only .40S&W. They are easy to identify. Lasered P99 logo (rather than engraved) and no proof mark on right rear of slide.

P99,

Thanks for the date of mfg. info.

Extremist,

I am not making any claims that there were none produced so, "producing evidence" either way is a non-issue with me.

I'll locate a German 9x19 elsewhere. Lighten up a little, this isn't the end of the world, for me anyway. ;)

Gr8 I will tell you my experience so far. I have about 500 rounds through mine so far. My overall experience with shooting in general only includes about 400 rounds more.

This gun makes me look good! It has been 100% reliable. It is more accurate than I am able to take advantage of at this point. Where it really comes into its own is in quick action drills under 15 yrds. I can come up from the ready and hit point of aim in DA mode quickly and consistently. Double taps to a 3X5 card inside 7 yrds are a piece of cake. This is do to the short reset for the SA stroke.

Take advantage of the adjustability of the weapon when fitting it to each officer. I am 6ft 200 lbs and consider myself average build. I started with the medium grip that comes preinstalled. I was able to shoot it OK and needed only minor adjustments to the long DA stroke. Just for curiousity I installed the small grip last weekend to try it out. My finger engages the DA trigger right in the first bend of the finger now. My groups have tightened up and the gun feels better in my hand.

Oh and if it matters mine is 9mm.

OK, here is how you decifer the date code. (notice there is no I)

Devin, there is no "J" remember? They skip that letter. It's the "I" that is used.

AB is 2001 manufacture. Mine is a KG and my threaded barrel KK.
