Walmart -likes guns

I keep hearing from people in other areas of the country about walmarts not selling guns or just a miserable selection. I understand market demands vary by location. My walmarts have always sold guns, but have never been the place I'd look for a gun, now here they've got a specific mailer for hunting/guns. That's a great sign for gun owners, they're not just pacifying a certain market they're embracing it. Also prices seem good esp for a big box store.

Anyone else seen an uptick in walmarts push for guns? I know hunting season helps their demand.

I vaguely remember when Walmart banned a Sheryl crow cd because she bad mouthed them about selling guns. Something like that, stretching my memory, I couldn't even drive then.

No walmarts in the entire state even have ammo here. Oh how convient it would be.

I've found that in PA/DE its hit or miss... ones closer to bigger city's usually just have ammo and maybe muzzle loaders. As you get more into the boonies generally you find more stores selling long arms

"No Walmarts in my heavily populated area sell firearms, as far as I know."

Several in Washington, DC, metro in Virginia sell guns.

We're pretty heavily populated here, a fact of which I am reminded daily during my to and from work commute...

Oddly enough, though, I've not checked the nearest WalMart to me, which just opened a few months ago... I'm in there every week or so.

Interestingly, this is the first time I've seen a print advertisement that used the terminology NSSF is promoting in place of "assault rifle" or "EBR"- MSR, for Modern Sporting Rifle. Somebody at Wally World's marketing department is on the ball. :D

OTOH it's unlikely I'll see these flyers in my area because only a handful of DFW area Walmarts carry guns.

Deer Thugs

Mossberg ATR "Deer Thugs" rifle???

Their marketing department may be on the ball,,,
But their proofreaders need a talking to.

I'm picturing a bunch of deer hanging around the feeder,,,
All wearing hoodies and sporting Glock fo-tays,,,
Smoking cigarettes, waiting for a hunter.

P.S. Good eyes 38superhero. ;)

True! That reminds me. I have a box of Fiocchi ammo that says "Extrema" on one end flap and "Extema" (no "R") on the other. No proofreader is perfect. ;)

So far as I can tell not a single Walmart within 50+ miles of Metro Area-Chicago sell firearms. That is a lot of walmarts in rural areas too! If you cross the border it looks like there is one in indiana that sells firearms; even in Southern Wisconsin where my family has property the closest walmart that sells firearms is 40 miles away...and we have 3 or 4 walmarts within 10 miles of our place just to give you an idea. I would be curious to hear Who and how Walmart decides where to and where not to sell firearms; I cannot believe there would be NO market for a walmart that sells firearms in the distant Chicago area suburbs.

PS: Not impressed by those prices; don't know about your area but those AR prices are pretty easy to beat around here.

They used to sell them here (got my beloved Marlin .22Magnum at Walmart) but they have been gone from all but a few stores for a long time now. The accessories section was cut way back too. The Walmart in Brainerd still carries guns but I'm not aware of any others.

We do still have ammo though and in fact most Walmarts upgraded their ammo cases a year or 2 back. Best prices in town usually so I'm glad they didn't get out of that part of it.

Yes, they sell AR's

Last week, we had a simular ad for stores in Eastern Iowa. The only one I know that sells firearms, is the Davenport store. ... :)

Be Safe !!!

There are two Wal-Mart Supercenters in my town. The older one on the east side has always sold guns from day one and never quit even a few years ago when many of their stores were getting rid of guns. This Wal-Mart also seems to have a slightly better selection of ammunition and shooting gear as I can sometimes find less-common calibers like 10mm Auto, .41 Magnum, .454 Casull, .500 S&W, 10 gauge, and .45-70 there though it's inconsistent. Recently, they've begun keeping a couple AR-15's in stock (one is a Colt and I didn't notice what the other was).

The newer west side Wal-Mart did not sell guns when it opened and only had the usual selection of common ammo. However, they began selling guns a couple of years ago and now have the usual selection of hunting rifles and shotguns (the most 'tactical' thing they have is a wood-stocked Ruger Mini-14).

I'm glad it looks like Walmart doesnt have an anti gun ideology and only sells the bare min to still make a buck.

My Walmarts and guns and ammo but can't ever find .223 for the AR. I live down the street from AaronD. Well OK, we both live in OK.
