walmart ammo "#2s"

OK, this discussion is starting to waver. It is about ammunition at Walmart.

It's not about their politics, their standing in the community, their purchasing practices (outside of firearms and ammunition).

I've cleaned out some off-topic posts that were taking us away from the intended discussion.

With my wife and son both working at the local Walmart, it helps put food on our table (at 10% employee discount I might add). I can't speak for other stores, but at ours, employees are treated decently and fairly.

Pricing is based on volume in any industry. The more you make, the cheaper it is per unit. Not rocket science.

The idea that Walmart specifically orders substandard merchandise is ridiculous, especially when you can return about anything, for about any reason. Ammo makers have an an entire line from the cheapest to the premium stuff. Walmart orders huge volumes of cheapest lines because that is what sells. Aluminum case Blazer used to fill the shelves at Kmart and Walmart. Now there are other budget brands or lines to fill the shelves.

I thunk one of the examples of wal marts advantage is the federal bulk pack .22s. They are packed as 550 rounds at WM and 525 everywhere else. Same ammo different quantity for a lower price.

Yea...I used to hear the same stuff about "Sears" brand ammo (and guns) too.

Now, some things might be different. Like'' the packaging.

Note the two boxes of 22 ammo above the revolver. The blue box came from my LGS. The brown box came from Wal-Mart. I couldn't tell you if there is an actual difference in the ammo. If there is, I can't tell it. I do know I've never seen the "brown box" Federal ammo anywhere but Wal-Mart. I've also never seen the "blue box" stuff at Wal-Mart.

I strongly suspect that when Federal makes a run for Wal-Mart, they just change the cardboard boxes in the feeder bins and never stop the production line.

This used to be known as the "Wally-World Special" Ruger 10/22. You could only get the 22" stainless steel barrel, and checkered DSP style hardwood stock, from Wal-Mart.

There have been a number of "Wal-Mart only" 10/22's over the years. Probably some others I can't think of off the top of my head.
