I don’t recall ever saying that - this has nothing to do with freemasonry.

Do your research before attempting any and all arguments. Here is the article for you, in case you missed it the first time.

Carrying a pistol in his waistband, Brown also insisted that he could not receive a fair trial in a federal court because "the court system falls under freemasonry."

"There [are] no longer any lawful courts. The Freemasons have taken over our nation. … [Freemasons want] to take over our nation and all nations on the planet," Brown said.

Geez man… and what is “ad hom”?

Um..... As a consolation prize, here is something that should be required course material for everyone.

I myself am an Elder of Zion, fat version

You've just disobeyed rule #1 and #2 of the Protocols: don't talk about the protocols.

I'm finally getting a chance to use the dang thing and WA wants to hack it off!
Ya know if you're so gungho about moyling me, why dontcha first give up eating pork and other foods forbidden because they were 'unclean'? :D

I don't think tax laws are worth taking a stand over. If this were a case of holdouts against door-to-door semi-auto confiscation or something of that nature, then I could understand: once America loses the rest of the Second Amendment, we've lost all of our rights permanently, and that has to be prevented at ALL costs. But taxes? It's never too late to work to get the tax system reformed through normal democratic processes (not that it would be easy).

Still, I do admire the Browns' courage. Most Americans have been conditioned to respect "authority" FAR too much and lack the courage to say anything besides "yes, sir!" when Big Brother demands something of them. I think the application of courage is misplaced in this case, but I still like to see that the spirit of the Boston Tea Party is still alive in a few people.

The bottom line is that hopefully this will end peacefully, one way or another. There's NO reason for violence to be initiated by the government here -- these are elderly tax evaders, not mass murderers, and it's not like they're bankrupting the government. Sadly, I have no doubt whatsoever that there are some hotshot "operators" around the Browns' place who are just champing at the bit to try out some of their "tacticool" gear on this old couple.

I wanna blend in with the goyim whom I seek to overthrow to impose ZOG rule and seize all guns. I was going to use you as my Lucca Brazzi but you chickened out. Watch your back, the Masons control the insurance industry :)

Freemason controlthe Universe?

Thats news to me, been attending Lodge for 36 years and the first I ever heard of that nonsense. Whatever Ed Whatshisname is smoking or injesting has his 'noggin' in a dither or as they say in Japan, he is denki denki, meaning nobody home upstairs.

I suppose he could plead insanity, and if asked to go into detail, would say ,
"I'm just crazy about avoiding income taxes" (among other things).

Contention: The Sixteenth Amendment does not authorize a direct non-apportioned federal income tax on United States citizens.

Some assert that the Sixteenth Amendment does not authorize a direct non-apportioned income tax and thus, U.S. citizens and residents are not subject to federal income tax laws.

The Law: The courts have both implicitly and explicitly recognized that the Sixteenth Amendment authorizes a non-apportioned direct income tax on United States citizens and that the federal tax laws as applied are valid. In United States v. Collins, 920 F.2d 619, 629 (10th Cir. 1990), cert. denied, 500 U.S. 920 (1991), the court cited to Brushaber v. Union Pac. R.R., 240 U.S. 1, 12-19 (1916), and noted that the U.S. Supreme Court has recognized that the “sixteenth amendment authorizes a direct nonapportioned tax upon United States citizens throughout the nation.”
Relevant Case Law:

In re Becraft, 885 F.2d 547 (9th Cir. 1989) – the court affirmed a failure to file conviction, rejecting the taxpayer’s frivolous position that the Sixteenth Amendment does not authorize a direct non-apportioned income tax.

United States v. Collins, 920 F.2d 619, 629 (10th Cir. 1990) – the court found defendant’s argument that the Sixteenth Amendment does not authorize a direct, non-apportioned tax on United States citizens similarly to be “devoid of any arguable basis in law.”

Lovell v. United States, 755 F.2d 517, 518 (7th Cir. 1984) – the court rejected the argument that the Constitution prohibits imposition of a direct tax without apportionment, and upheld the district court’s frivolous return penalty assessment and the award of attorneys’ fees to the government “because [the taxpayers’] legal position was patently frivolous.” The appeals court imposed additional sanctions for pursuing “frivolous arguments in bad faith.”

Broughton v. United States, 632 F.2d 706 (8th Cir. 1980) – the court rejected a refund suit, stating that the Sixteenth Amendment authorizes imposition of an income tax without apportionment among the states.

Stearman v. Commissioner, T.C. Memo. 2005-39, 89 T.C.M. (CCH) 823 (2005), aff’d, 436 F.3d 533 (5th Cir. 2006) – the court imposed sanctions totaling $25,000 against the taxpayer for advancing arguments characteristic of tax-protester rhetoric that has been universally rejected by the courts, including arguments regarding the Sixteenth Amendment. In affirming the Tax Court’s holding, the Fifth Circuit granted the government’s request for further sanctions of $6,000 against the taxpayer for maintaining frivolous arguments on appeal, and the Fifth Circuit imposed an additional $6,000 sanctions on its own, for total additional sanctions of $12,000.

seriously you guys. red herrings, straw men, non-sequiturs, (insert latin here)'s, etc.

This issue is not about tax codes. This couple is crazy. The only thing they have going for them is that they've managed to divert attention for some of you conspiracy nuts.

This story is not Waco. This story may have some parallels, but is no where near the tragedy at Carribou Ridge on Ruby Creek. It's not like the Courts were targeting them, issued an arrest warrent on shady entrapment, then gave the incorrect court date, or shot the missus through the head.

Some have been asking how long they can hold out. According to the "former Browns" indefinitely. The former John Brown said that they are completely self sufficient.

Not gonna happen. They already said they're not going to raid the house, they're just sort of bemusedly waiting for these kooks to give up or die of old age.
As I recall the police at Waco got tired of waiting for Koresh to give up or die of old age after 54 days. I wonder how long they can wait this time before they get "tired".

I feel terrible for what happened to Randy Weaver and his family, but that doesn't mean I like him for being a white supremacist

Randy Weaver and the Weaver family were, and I assume that those who are left still are, White SEPARATISTS. He was never a supremacist regardless of what the news tried to make him out to be. In fact, he rejected white supremacy and that's what got him in the fix he found himself in the first place. As a separatist, he did what separatists do ... he separated himself and his family from society.

A) How long exactly can a stand-off last?
B) What's the political impact of "letting them die"?

Question A depends on how well one is prepared. It seems to me Waco lasted like 50 odd days (but don't quote me on that)

As for Question B it could go both ways. Justice served for a nut case OR the Federal govt using force against a private citisen.

My personal oppinion is that it shows the means the feds will go through just to kill to get the their greedy little fingers on every last penny. They have in many cases killed people over mere money. I'm not in any way promoting tax evasion. Just calling the feds as I see them.

Bet if they were Mexicans holed up to avoid deportation, some folks here would be screaming for tear gas right now ;)

Far as I am concerned they are avoiding lawful process. Kick down their doors and arrest em, they resist, o well.

You ever notice that if you have a house and a couple outbuildings with a fence, it's now "A Compound"?

Or if you have a couple of guns and a case of ammo it's "An Arsenal"?

Avoiding paying all the taxes that Uncle Sugar demands is a national past-time. But it still doesn't make it right. These folks are no more tax heroes than the guy who lists all his assets in the name of his pets is a hero.

Hey Wildalaska: Let's show these nebekhs how to do it.

He was never a supremacist regardless of what the news tried to make him out to be.

I stand corrected. But it still means that they believe that Yahweh Yahshua Messiah, the anointed One of Saxon Israel, didn't want them living next door to non-wasps.... like oh say, semitic people. No mongrelizing, yeah? Instead of bedsheet-draping horsemen, they're just a family of crazies. The difference is big, I know - but still.

I was checking out internet news on google, and apparently, a lot of people are swallowing the tripe. Most are titled something like, "Ed Brown: Tax Protestor."

We should all learn from this - if the Feds have your "barricaded compound" surrounded, hold a press conference and tell the world that you're defending yourselves against...global warming! All those fossil fuel-burning vehicles transporting those "hired guns" are destroying mother earth. Resist THE MAN! Just think of all the sympathetic protestors who will flood the streets around your property. Al Gore would kiss your feet to become your spokesman. Meanwhile, all of media-dom will be discussing the merits of climate change and praising your heroism for standing up for the environment.

"elderly tax evaders"

IOW, old crooks.
You seem to have missed the point entirely, which is that some crooks are a hell of a lot more dangerous than others. Elderly "crooks" who have committed tax evasion do not justify a paramilitary response from an army.

What's next in this country? Anti-shoplifting commando units?

It should also be pointed out that federal tax dollars are used to fund a lot of blatantly unconstitutional (hence illegal) programs, including agencies such as the BATF that have no business existing. So who are the REAL crooks here?

If shoplifters declared their intention to murder anybody who tries to apprehend them, then it wouldn't surprise me. Thankfully not everybody is as loonie as Ed and Elaine Brown, though.

I would love to see a drawing of their fortified house and what kind of generators + supplies they are stockpiling.

The Feds are right - eventually they will run out of food and supplies. It could take 10 years.

But then again - there are only so many real terrorists, illegal immigrants, Mafia, murderers, child molesters, etc. that are less important than 2 tax protesters.
