Vortex or busnell elite?

I'm looking at either the vortex viper pst 6-24-50 and the bushnell elite 6500 6-24x50 mil dot scopes. Money is around the same for both scopes.....any. Information would be appreciated.
 
there is a group buy that I just got on to at the SNIPERS Hide FOR MEMBERS for the right Busnell that puts the Vortex to shame .They are a very astute group over there and know what's up with optics . HDMR. Front Focal Plane, Mil/Mil , G2 GAP Reticle 13" Length, 34 mm Tube, 50mm Obj, 3.5 x 21 power, side focus, locking turrets :D

I've had an elite 6500 and got rid of it. I use a vortex diamondback and viper and they can't be beat for the money. Excellent warranty as well.

Optically the two are very comparable. Except the bushnell had a pronounced fish eye effect at lower magnification.
 
I have used 2 Vortex, and they get my vote. Their C.S. is second to none. Vortex is probably one of the best Chinese optics you can buy.
 
This is not the same Bushnell you are used to . I think you should check it out .It is Night Force quality for the serious shooter ,not a regular Elite . :eek:
 
I have been very impressed with the Vortex Diamondback. Very high quality and has all the features I want. A real good scope for not a lot of coin. I think to find an equivalent Bushnell you would have to spend a lot more money.
 
afaik the crossfires are made in china the diamondbacks are philippines and the vipers are japan/philippines.

the bushnell hdmr looks interesting but I doubt the glass used is any different than the elite series
 
Yup. Only the Crossfires are Chinese, no way they could hit that price point-with any quality-otherwise.
Own diff models of them , but I think I'd give the Vortex the nod., if for no other reason than c.s.
 
I think Sightron's S2 Big Sky's were severely under appreciated. I'm kinda bummed they're being discontinued... going to be 30mm tubes here on out if you want the nice glass.
 
i recently had a run in with bushenells customer service dept over a 4200 scope. I was treat so badly that i wouldnt buy anything from them again. I had a vortex strikefire that was just to dim. Nothing wrong just bought the wrong model. I called them and they said ship it back and theyed exchange it for the model i wanted. Now thats customer service and you know what my answer to the original posters question is!!! by the way ive also bought a pair of vortex razor binocs and for the money these things are amazing.

This alone would be reason to go with the Vortex.
 
I've heard good and bad on both. I own a 4200 that I love but have wanted to try the Vortex. That is until someone that I know had a bad experience with them. The issue was made right and he was reimbursed but wasn't real excited about the product.

For hunting applications the Elite is hard to beat for the money. I have scopes that cost twice to 3 times what my 4200 did and will not gather the light nor have the clarity of the Bushnell.
 
Vortex for me. The PST is an awesome scope for the money. Add on the fact that the customer service is top notch and it makes my choice easy now.

SWFA was running a really good deal on the exact model you mentioned above.

Vortex customer service is top notch. I haven't experienced Bushnells but I do have an elite 4200 on my .223 and it is some very nice glass but has short eye relief and as such, I probably wound't run it on anything with more recoil than my 30-06. My next scope purchase will probably be a Vortex just to try one out, I only have a set of 10x Razors.
