The two pistols that I am looking at for CCW are either the Kahr PM9 or the Rohrbaugh R9.

And I think "If I carry a R9, what would be a good backup for it?" And I think "well, what else except another R9!"

Pretty much the same thought with the Kahrs... except maybe I'd get the cheaper CW9 as a backup.

I pocket carry my BUG while my primary is IWB. A lot of times my hand is on my bug while walking to the car. To the general public it looks like I am possibly fishing for my keys, or cell phone.

I am with you on this one. I quite often have my hand on my S&W 38 Spl.
which I carry in a good pocket holster. Parking lots are a concern of mine since I live in an apartment complex. As for carrying two guns, or a backup gun, anyone can say it is not needed that often, but we had a terrorist at Ft. Hood who killed 13 people and wounded many more. Had I been there I would have been outgunned with me carrying two revolvers, but I would have at least had a chance to take the clown out, or else take him with me.
But in the case of those victims, those victims were in a killing zone, not allowed to carry weapons. I might never encounter one, but there are carjackings and armed robbers all the time where I live. Their long rap sheets makes you wonder how they keep getting recycled.:(

It is a false choice to say buy body armor or a bug.

You can get a decent BUG from 250 to 400 bucks. Cheaper for a used one.

Unless you are poor, and that certainly is the case for many, it's not hard.

Body armor can keep you in the fight but again the BUG is for primary failure. No gun, the armor cannot fight.

It's that simple.

Also, talk about carrying a BUG being a pain. Wear armor through the summer we had in TX - it was an inferno.

Last, just read a sims report about how many folks get shot in the hand or lower body in FOF.

Carrying 2 guns seams a bit paranoid to me. Why get out of bed you might fall down the stairs. I live in Northern Ireland where terrorist organizations have have murdered hundreds of police and army on and of duty. In day to day policing the police and army carry 1 firearm no back up. You can see why feeling the need to carry 2 pistols on your to the supermarket seams paranoid.
The police here have came up against RPG-S. 50 cal Russian mg-s. m60 mg-s plus all other small arms you care to mention a lot supplied by Americans i might add. A lot more danger (real not perceived) than most are lightly to meet in every day life.
What does it say when soldiers can go to war with one firearm. But some can't make it to walmart with one firearm.
Um...that your country's military budget is too small to provide them with proper equipment?

Body armor 2 handguns. If i didn't know this was an American forum i would be forgiven for thinking it was form iraq or Afghanistan. Rambo comes to mind. Read the posts take a step back maybe you will see how some of the posts will be seen in other countries.
Hopefull, they will see a populace that has taken a pro-active stance in their own protection, as everybody should know it isn't in the police's power to do so, and they will be the first to tell you that.

I hope the american tourist industry isn't reading this. If someone is going on holiday to America for a holiday what do they bring sun tan cream a bullet proof vest and a couple of firearms in case one fails. Ps i have being shooting for 30 years and haven't seen one fail.
I suggest you don't bring guns into the country. And I have been shooting for over 40 years and have seen several fail.

The police are armed in the part of the UK i come form.
Why, whatever for?

I think there is a happy medium. I can see the reasons for carrying a firearm for protection. When you start talking about bullet vests and 2 firearms it starts to get a bit ridiculous.
If its that bad i am surprised some don't barricade themselves in the house.
Some do. Many in the inner-cities of Detroit, Chicago, LA and the like have pretty much barricaded themselves against their own neighbors, or the random drive-by shootings that occur nightly in their respective areas. So your insult turned into an education for you.

I live in N Ireland there has being a terrorist campaign going on here for thirty years. Over 3000 people have being killed the population in N Ireland is arround 2million. The population in America is arround 3 hundred million i think if the equivalent number per population was killed in America it would be hundreds of thousands.
We know you live in N Ireland. Telling us more than once doesn't make your point bigger. And we lost over 3000 in just one terrorist attack. Didn't you hear about it?

I don't mean to insult anyone..
Yes you do. Otherwise you wouldn't have said the following:

The violence here has stopped american tourists coming here. I dont know why if its that bad in America they should be used to it. But i never knew any one here that felt the need to carry 2 firearms.
I give up. New years resolution When venture out of my barricaded house into my armored car with electrified door handles and flame thrower. I will also make sure my back up main battle tank is following me. I Will have 2 pistols on me and a Tommy gun in my briefcase. I will make sure there are no other cars on the road in case one runs into me. I will be in communication with the f16 flying overhead giving me air support. I will then make my way to the shop to get my groceries.
Now you can read all your insults in one post.

That's all folks. I would say that if you find a post unpleasant please report it as compared to engaging the miscreant.

I warned against insulting posts. Actions to follow.

The issue is well discussed, so closed.

I hope this doesn't bug you.
