Veteran's preferred pistol

I'm assuming you're talking about military handguns:

Had a classmate who was an infantry sergeant. He hated the Beretta and thought more highly of the Browning P-35. He liked the 1911 even more.

I am probably one of the few that enjoys a 92/M9 Beretta as much as a 1911. But then again I was an Air Force SP so their is a little bias...:D

Thank you to all our veterans! Thank you for your service and your commitment to our freedoms! I'm headed to the range today, and I'll see if I can find a veteran there who would like to try out my Dan Wesson Valor. I just got a flush fitting 8 round Chip McCormick magazine for it in the mail yesterday.

I think veterans of my day will opt for a 1911. During the later part of my service time the m9 came into play.

I was never enamored of that pistol. Today i carry a Glock. Everyday...everywhere.

And to all the Marines...Happy birthday!! Yesterday marked 239 years of Honor, Courage and Sacrifice to this country. Semper Fi Devil Dogs!!!!

Of course I like the 1911 and have/had a few. But, I wore civilian clothing in and around Saigon most of the time and carried my issued Colt Detective Special .38 in a belt holster "concealed" (sort of) by my untucked shirt. I carried my issued 1911 in a belt holster when on assignment in uniform, particularly in and near the RSSZ SE of Saigon and on trips to and from Tay Ninh.

I never did enjoy shooting the 1911. I know, I'm one of the few who will say that. But I absolutely love my CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical.

When I served with USAF the issued side arm was a S & W revolver in 38 Special. They're accurate for fairly close range shooting. Since then revolvers have fallen out of favor.

I entered the Army as we were transitioning to the M9. The 1911s were still around but they were some rattley beat up well used pieces of equipment. The first time I was issued a pistol was the mid 90s and the 1911s were long gone by then.

I own and shoot a Beretta 92. But I have 3 1911s (at the moment). The M9 is a perfectly serviceable pistol. But it doesn't DO anything for me. Unlike the 1911s. I dunno, the looks, the feel, the history, the SA trigger? Probably a little of all of that.

I was issued a Beretta, which was a decent gun, and ran flawlessly after I got some Beretta OEM mags for it.

Not a fan of the 9x19mm NATO ball ammo, though.

If given the choice, I'd carry the Colt M-45 like the boys in the MEU(SOC) BNs are getting.
