I can't add anything to what has already been said favorably of the Highway Patrolman and the 686. I've seen my same positive thoughts already expressed by others. In my mind, there's just every reason in the world to have at least one of each.

Took it out shooting today, 125 flawless full house loads. Gave it to my dad as a gift for finishing a classic land cruiser. Thought it made a fitting gift, a utilitarian, powerful pistol for a utilitarian powerful 4x4.

I bought my Model 28-2 6" last year for $325. It has the blue box, tools and paperwork. It is 98%. One problem, if you can call it that. The previous owner killed his Brother with it. Courts said it was a justifiable homicide and they gave him the revolver back. He has not fired it in 30 years. He did keep it clean and oiled it. It is virtually new, except for the detective's initials scratched on the left side. I have not had the time to shoot it much but it will ring the 10 ring on a B8 target at 25 yards when shooting one handed. A keeper,
