USMC

Wow, if I didn't have an over-ego before, all of you are really making my head swell.

Shin-Tao: My MOS for now is just a generic 1300, but once I go to my advanced training next summer I will be a 1371 (Combat Engineer) so I get to build stuff for our side, and blow up the other sides stuff. I'm currently with the 6th Engineer Support Batallion located in Portland Oregon.
BTW, I'm a hollywood marine.

Best of luck to your son JHS, my only advice to him is to make real sure he takes care of his feet for the last few weeks. Blisters can really make field week and the Crucible more difficult than they should be.

Yes, there are few feelings better than getting that final dismisal command from your SDI. I grabbed my sea bag and made record time for that airport shuttle, stoping only to speak with one DI briefly, but he was on his way to go take part in a Capture and Hold mission against some place code named "Tavern" not real sure what that was all about, but it seemed important to all of the DI's.

and amen to everyones thoughts about getting a better CinC

Congratulations, and welcome to the Brotherhood of the Corps.I served with the 10th & 12th Marines.Best thing I ever did was join and the dumbest thing was to get out.Wish you the best in what ever you decide to do,Semper Fi!

Congratulations, young man. Marines took care of my uncle in Tehran in `79, and my nephew in Kuwait City in `90 (he joined as soon as he got home). Marines have a special place in my family. M2

Hmmm. Could be, could be. ;)

All kidding aside though, we swabbies could learn a few things about military bearing from the jarheads. Know what you've got when two swabbies are in step? ...coincidence. Four? ...obviously an Honor Guard. Six or more? ...has to be the drill team. For a real laugh, grab a dozen sailors, put 'em in two rows of six, and tell 'em to dress up the ranks. "Close interval, dress right, dress!" BWAAHAHAHAHAHA

Just remember,

You get into a W.O.S. and call in CAS, I'll be there in a split second to reign death and destruction down upon those who have made the ultimate mistake and picked on you gents.

But in return, if I ever catch one and have to take the ole "nylon let down", you better B.Y.A. and come and get me... :D

Welcome Marine,
I look foward to serving with you.

Sir, your remarks are repulsive to me, and I disagree with your viewpoints. But I will defend to my death your God given right to express them.

Did not have the privelege personally, but have two sons currently active USMC. One an armorer, the other taking care of the computers at Pendleton.

Congrats on boot & thanks for the commitment to our country.

Congrats from a fellow leatherneck (infantry type).

Word of advice for your MOS school: don't try crimping any blasting caps with your teeth like they do in the movies...

OH, IS THAT STINKIN RIGHT?
WE GO TO BOOT CAMP FOR 3 MONTHS THEN ITS BACK TO MOMMY AND DADDY AND WE WANT TO BE A MARINE.
WELL LET ME LOCK YOU ON THERE DEVIL PUP...
GET YOUR STINKIN HOOFS OUT INTO MY FLEET BEFORE YOU START SPOUTING OFF WAR STORIES.
DO YOU FREAKIN UNDERSTAND ME?

Congrats brother.

NOW MOVE!

If you are gonna be a Marine, be a decent one. Go Airborne!
Been an 82nd Airborne in the family since '43.
Serve proudly!

Welcome aboard, Devil Dog.

I served during the Reagan/Bush/Cheney years. If all goes well you will too.
