I just graduated Marine Corps boot camp on Friday, Sept 22, so I thought I'd post this to see who the other Devil Dogs are on the Firing Line. I shot a 217 on the Rifle range, just missing expert by 3 points. (I pulled two shots off into the 2 range at the 200 yd. standing, and I shot a few too many 3's at the 500 yd line.) I have to say that the M16A2 is an excellent rifle. In all the rounds we fired, I only experienced one stopage, and that was due to forgetting to close the ejection port cover before going through an individual movement course (crawling through the dirt under barb wire, etc.) When I went to change magazines shortly thereafter, the bolt didn't go all the way home, but after I tapped the forward assist I didn't have any problems with the rest of the rounds in that magazine despite the dirt.

Anyway, I am now PFC Richard Noble, USMC (Reserve) and it's back to the daily grind at college. (I made a promise to my parents that I would finish college before doing anything else with my life, so a full time military career is going to have to wait.)

Congratulations Marine! Thank you for your service to our nation and hopefully we can get you a decent Commander in Chief in a few more weeks.

After spending a lot of years in the Army, I can say that if my son were to choose a military career, I would direct him to the Marine recruiter. Marine leadership appears to be excellent. Marine officers still seem to place the troop's need above his own. While Marines sometimes have over-large ego's, I think they've earned it.

All the way!--- Airborne!

Outstanding! I will be in San Diego to watch my son graduate on 10-20-00. He is all kinds of ready to start rifle training. He is also ready to get back home. Those DI,s make ol'Dad look like a kitten. :)

Always had a lot of respect for the Corps.

Way to go...the four years I did were also, coincidentally, the best thing I ever did.

Thanks for servin', and if you ever go on ship, watch for those Sea Bats :D

Excellent! Welcome to the Brotherhood of desctruction!

What's your MOS, son?

Where did you go thru you fun and refreshing boot?

Congratulations. Just remember, "Marine" is actually an acronym:

My

Rides
In

Speaking of acronyms, remember that USMC stands for:

Uncle
Sam's
Misguided
Children

Congrats for choosing to be one of the best. Now we need to get to work to elect a CinC who is worthy of our respect and PFC Noble's service.
