US Special Forces Are Going To Love This Rifle

Hell, never thought I'd be the one to say this, but I would like to see my SDM carrying an M-16A4 with a bipod and a nice optic on it. No more' no less.

Well, fortunately for you thats pretty much what they have now. It's your basic MK12. Only difference IIRC is a match trigger, match ammo, (I beleive) a heavier barrel, suppressor and a Leupold Mk4. Almost every squad I've run on a patrol with out here has had one. That seem's like some drastic differences, but in the realm of things they're not. As far as 'other flavors,' I've seen a few people running around with A4's with a bipod and various scopes. The thing is, they're usually home bought and never leave the fob. I've heard of the M14's, but in 2 deployments I have yet to see one...This is for the Marines by the way, can't speak for the other branches.

Back to the topic at hand, pretty cool rifle! That stock looks pretty futuristic

Not sure how you got your hands on one but it would be fun to test. Thing I have to ask is how's the weight? Balance? And of course the new action? Remington have been after this contract for a while but how does it compare to say an AI excluding price? I've also read they're using the new 3K leupolds on this system too.

A 30 or 338 caliber bullet is loud as long as it is going faster than the speed of sound. Might be hard to tell where it came from though.

Breaking skeet clays at 1200 yards? Shoot any paper out there? What was the consistant accuracy at that range? I would be very satisifed with an 18 inch group out of a semi-auto at 1200 yards.

#14, +1.

It all starts with a better shooter and THEN their improved gun/optics and ammo. Progress, not perfection. And perfection is the enemy of good enough. KISS and git 'er done!

I've never been a fan of semi-auto for long range marksmanship. Mis-o-matics tend to slow the rate of skill acquisition when the next round is only a trigger pull away.

That being said, some of the greatest sniper rifles in history have been auto-loaders.

Train hard, train often: when the application only requires one round, that's all you'll need.

If a career civilian may inquire ... the designated marksman issue. Is there a reason why the SCAR-H hasn't been tried in that role .. or has it been? It wouldn't look like an M-4, but then again neither does an EBR.

A Close up view would show this to be a bolt gun I believe. But I have seen auto loaders make some very long shots.

Silently? Hehehehe forget it. A supressed 300 win mag or 338 lapua will give more noise then a 22 LR unsupressed. So you'd be cheaper of with a 22.
Nope.

Using the mil-spec sound test arrangement, an unsuppressed .22LR is around 150-155 dB. Put a good can on a .308, .300, or .338 and it's 130-140 dB.

ETA: the rifle in the OP is obviously a bolt gun.
