urgent!!! getting a revolver today

Sounds like you got it handled

Congrats on your 21st, Any of the Revolvers you have talked about would be a good choice, my preference would be a Ruger. good luck on whatever you get and enjoy it....it won't be the last one but it would be one I would hang on to.

The redhawk is a .44 generally. Not alot of the .357 version around. If they do have a .357 Redhawk, get that!!

Otherwise, I'd say the GP100. But, you can't loose with a 686 either.

Hokie,
Like someone else mentioned, it depends on what you mainly want to use it for. Both are fine choices, but the Redhawk is larger: better for hunting or target shooting. For carry use, the GP would be a much better choice IMHO.
Nice choices to have, enjoy :)

Glad to see your dealer was getting one in but I'm not sure what the problem was. My dealer can get most guns the next day or at least in 2 days.

I second the notion mentioned above that you should purchase the one that stands out in your mind right now and look at it as the beginning of your collection. When you're ready to add on, the others will be waiting for you and you will have some experience with which to help your future decisions.

I bought my "one and only" firearm I could/would ever be able to afford on my family budget about 4 to 6 acquisitions/purchases ago depending on how I look at it.

got my ruger today, shot it, and man do i love this gun. didn't have too much experience with revolvers, but i was busting propped up skeet at 50yards fairly easily. feels great and shoots nicely. i was expecting more recoil when i shot the .357 rounds, but it seemed like i didn't feel much at all. the .45 1911 i shot felt like it kicked a whole lot more.
