Updated Range Report on Sphinx SDP

Mags are already out and I have heard that they were expected to ship in June. I am also very interested in the full sized and even the sub-compact.

Will standard CZ-75 mags work in them?

Now that they're starting to show up at below $900, I'm giving the SDP serious consideration versus the CGW Pro Package P-07. Magazine compatibility would be a huge mark in its favor.

My CZ compact/P01 mags which I believe were made by mecgar do not work.

According to Kriss USA. While CZ Mags and clone mags may work. Please check that the magazine when inserted clears the Ejector because of the variations on the rear of the magazine(some have a rounded/half circle rear, while others are squared off). The gap between the magazine feedlips and the ejector are extremely close, some magazines will make contact with the ejector causing wear to the underside of the ejector.

It is my understanding that 15-round magazines from a Canik Stingray are perfect match. You can get those for about $25.

I haven't seen the issue yet, but understand the point you're making. Sounds like something that can be cured with the careful use of a Dremel...

I figured the 14 round compact mags would be too short, but I've got a ton of the standard 16-round 75 mags and the 17 round Mec-Gars on hand. If they fit (for range/practice use), then I think the Sphinx just moved up to #1 on my wish list.

I have a 14-round compact mag (not CZ factory) that works fine, and they have a Glock-like (not rounded) step at the rear. I tried a CZ compact (with the curled base plate) mag recently, and it worked, but I couldn't find that mag today. (My gun safe and some of the adjoining storage boxes are mysterious...) It should go without saying, but I'll say it -- the full-size mags work fine, but the same warning that WVsig mentions must apply.

The problem with the ejector hitting parts of some mags is something that can probably be fixed pretty easily with a few minutes work (on the mag) with a Dremel tool.
