As for empties sticking in rough chambers in a Vaquero, I did the same kind of procedure with my .357 Vaqueros and they're slick as greased snot now. The empties shuck out easy and fast, just gotta get the case started with a fast jab of the ejector rod.
As for the Vaquero's indexing, it's just one of those little things you may have to live with. Can't rely on the audible "click" to tell you the chamber is lined up like you can with the Colt design. Gotta visually align the cylinder.
OTOH, Power Custom (I'm pretty sure that's who it is) has some parts kits that allow your Vaquero to function more like the colt, with 4 clicks, a free-spin pawl, half-cock loading, and the cylinder chamber aligning with the frame window on the audible click.
Never seemed worth the money to me personally though. I just look as I load/unload cause my targets aren't shooting back.
