When police officers commit such outrageous, criminal activities under the color of authority, they're supposed to be charged as would any other criminal - yet it so rarely happens and even then typically only when there is publicly disseminated, entirely irrefutable evidence of their crimes.
Events like this are why I cringe when I see/read/hear folks reflexively take the LEO's side when police/civilian interactions go wrong.
