"Unfired"

i usually find some guns that have never been fired

I get them drunk, and i'm like, "Hey baby, lets go to eagle peak" (its a shooting range)

and when we get there I suggest to them "can i put my bullets in you? it wont hurt"

and then i shoot them, and it feels great

I have an unfired Sig Sauer Blackwater edition 9mm that has never been fired aside from that which occurs at the factory. The reason it's unfired is because I have more than a couple Sigs in 9mm and 40cal, so...there really isn't a need to fire it. I love the wood grips and finish of it all. It's still in the packing from the factory and has all the shipping oil on it.

My other weapons get their fair share of time at the range though ;)

In the mid 1990s I bought a Smith & Wesson Model 28 in a private sale.

The guy who sold it to me said he bought it new and put it away and never fired it in the 15+ years he owned it.

I believe him because there wasn't even a HINT of a drag line around the cylinder. It was pretty apparent that he had never even cycled the action.

Unfired means not shot since proof test at the factory.
I have one such; it was my Mother's house gun, kept handy but never shot, as described in an earlier post.

Shot a little, cleaned up thoroughly, and described as unfired is a baldfaced lie. Fraud if claimed to make a sale.

I knew a guy who bought a new gun, loaded and holstered it for duty carry without testfiring. He was kind of pale when he got around to shooting it after about three weeks of depending on it... it simply did not work.

With those adjustable sights and ejector rod shroud that Model 13 bears a striking resemblance to a Model 19.

Correction made. It is a Model 19-4

I thought I had the thread all corrected. I missed the error. Thanks for catching it. It is in fact a Model 19-4.
I corrected the original post by me.

Like others said - even most new guns get fired by the mfg .....and some of them even come with test targets ... so to me, its an indication of any wear on the gun.

I don't own any "guns I don't shoot"... not even guns that retail for
$2,500 - $5,000 new......but I'm a shooter / not a pure collector.

I like nice guns / but I have no use for a gun I can't or won't shoot.

I purchased one of those unfired guns and I don't know why it wasn't fired but I am glad to have found it for a price less than the newer model made today. A blued .38super combat commander isn't made anymore. Better story to the gun too. The gun will lose its unfired status in a few hours, after that some Guiness and a fine cigar.

What's it all about? I don't get it! All guns have been fired at the factory and put away dirty for you to buy. So a guy doesn't shoot it for 15 years- so what? The gun has still been fired! and now it has sat dirty and neglected for all those years. When a guy is trying to sell me an "unfired gun" I assume it's an out-and-out lie or he just doesn't understand that it has in fact been fired. The fact that he may not have shot it since he owned it does not add one red cent in my book.

I recently bought an unfired Model 15,,,

I paid top dollar for it because it had all the original stuff,,,
Even the cleaning rod and S&W Waxed paper,,,
If the gun had ever been fired,,,
I couldn't tell it.

I bought it to be a shooter though,,,
I named her Stella and finally shot her last week.

It would have to be something I would only buy for an investment,,,
And I can't imagine ever stumbling across an unfired Python I could afford.

Even then the temptation to shoot the thing "just once",,,
Would probably be too strong for me to resist.

I do understand guns being many years old and never fired,,,
My Sister has a revolver (I don't know what kind),,,
That has been sitting in her dresser drawer,,,
For at least 35 years, probably more.

Her husband bought it for her to have while he was away,,,
She loaded it and put it in the dresser drawer,,
And there it has sat for all these years.

The cartridges have probably fused to the cylinder wall by now.
