Un-supported cases in Glock chambers causing a KaBoom

If a pistol headspaces on the extractor, there is something very wrong with either the pistol or the ammunition, or there is a mismatch (like .380 ACP in a 9x19 chamber). I don't know who started that nonsense, but it was obviously someone who knows little about auto pistols.

Well, the count is 0 and 1. I've seen one 1911 that blew up and zero Blocks. The 1911 was owned by an old Bullseye type codger and he said he had blown the slide in half during an NRA match in the 60's. It was welded back together and along with the 20-30% blue it was one ugly piece. Original 1911 too, no A1, kinda sad. Until I shot that thing with his powderpuff target loads, scary accurate. So, can you blow up a Glock and put it back together?

I figure the unsupported chamber deal is bogus, all pistols do it to some degree. I do think bullet setback is an isssue that 40 S&W is sensitive too, and how quickly the bullet seals to the poly rifling may cause pressure problems with some loads. I see a 21 and maybe a .40 in my future, I plan on throwing a KKM at them just so I can shoot whatever I want out of it.

Let it go. A G30 will be firing rounds from it's magazine with 50% more capacity, while being lighter than your 1911 years after the 1911 is gone

Ok whatever, my current competition:rolleyes:/carry gun is 57 years old and counting, I'm keeping it and a couple of its single stack cousins til I croak. 1911 gone, I think not.

A good 1911 doesn't care.

Split n welded slide noted above likely cause of over squeezin the slide tryin to tighten the slide/frame interface. Likely fell apart rather than blown apart.

Well I said it, but I didn't make it up. I will assume that the person that told me this know as much about headspace as myself....nothing. I'm still a newbie. I've only been shooting for a year, and sometimes I take what more experienced shooters tell me as gospel. Please excuse me for posting something that wasn't right.

On the good side, I learned something today.

WESHOOT2,

But I have fired 9x19 through a 41AE barrel.

Heh. I had a couple of pieces of 9mm brass necked up to .40 cal in my collection, too. My boss at the shop I worked at in the days of yore shot them in a G23 as a demonstration (proving what, exactly, I don't know) when I was still dithering over whether to buy a Glock or not. Talk about an "unsupported chamber"!

HEADSPACE?

Or spacehead?

I'm goin back down to make some (real serious) 45 Colt..........

Did I mention I've shot my chrono five times testing this order?

ADD H & K to the list:

I did the same "support" test on my H & K USP 45F & "surprise, surprise, surprise "( in my best Gomer Pyle voice), seems to be ALOT of unsupport there too!!!:) Not that big a deal (unless you're a reloader, ect.) I'd guess.
