UK: Weapons warning to holidaymakers (Puke Alert!)

Wtf???

*raises hand*

How the hell did England go from rulling half the world to being paranoid pansies, cowering on their dinky island, in under 60 years?

Looks like England is becoming the new France, aka: "I Surender"

We need to find out if France really diserves its title of "Crappiest first world nation" or if England has taken over the lead. :p

England may have some stange rule and they may have bent me over for the firearms deal, but they are still out in the Gulf risking their live alongside US Soldiers.
Among the few staunch supporters the US have.
Pansies I don't think so
Overr zealous bigots maybe

Well, on the other side of the coin, maybe its better for english rulers to disarm the populace, considering how many times in their bloody history that the commoners have risen up to overthrow their crappy governments.

 How many kings and queens have been voilently overthrown by the 'unwashed masses' in english history? ALOT! Maybe they are just playing at CYA? :barf:

Agree with Angus

As a Brit living here in the US, in fact I hold dual citizenship, I agree with Angus, the rules in the UK are a pain concerning weapons, however 12 years ago, and it may have changed, I owned a number of shotguns and had one set up for home defense.

With regards to the "pansie" comments I would put any member of the SAS, SBS, or Commando units up against any elite force in the world, based on ability and courage.

And the UK is still one of the strongest allies the US has in europe, and always will be.

Birdie, I would agree with some of your comments. I had the pleasure (pleasure now, not then) of going through an abbreviated SAS course in 1960. Tough nuts, those Limeys. :D

Pops

Shame the "game" has been changed. Things ain't what they used to be.
Back in the 90's I had the pleasure to visit with the training wing many times. There role in modern warefare has changed. Wonder what the Iraq did for that maybe have to call home and speak to some old friends

Wow, I was under the obviously misguided opinion that all members here were intelligent open minded individuals. You wanna know the definition of offensive??? Try taking the decisions made by MPs and lawmakers regarding weapons, and then assuming that is the opinion of every single British citizen.
Sure, there are things i dont agree with there concerning the possession of weapons. Having said that, in the 25+ years I lived there, I never had the need to use a weapon, bu that didnt stop me from building a nice collection.
You just can't import certain things.
You know, there are a lot of laws here which i dont happen to agree with (surpressor restrictions, the clinton ban etc etc). However, I don't assume every american has the same opinions as the priveliged few who make the rules. :barf:

Scottish knives

If swords are being seized at the airport- what about the Dirk or the Skien Dhu ( a highlanders knive worn in the sock) - both of which are items of Scotish heritage? surely these are as fundamentally scotish - after all, the Skien Dhu is the politically correct answer to what a scotsman wheres under his kilt.

Lawyer,

There was a story not long ago that talked about the new knife laws and an official explicitly excluded the Skien Dhu(sp.?) while worn/associated with traditional dress as being outside the intent of the laws proscription.

In other words they aren't willing to take on a cultural icon quite yet.

Yup, right here in CA. They are worried that kids will secretly become ninjas, flip out, and start cutting off heads.

All right! A Real Ultimate Power reference! :D

"And when I say cool, I mean totally sweet."

Remember when that kid dropped the spoon and the ninja killed the whole town?

Fallout from laws

Assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that we in the U.S. retain our firearms rights I wonder what would happen if historic precedent reared up it's ugly head. Would hundreds of thousands of U.S. shooters be anxious to ship their prized hunting rifles off to G.B. so their Civil Patrol could walk the beaches with more than a garden hoe? Then to have to stand by and see those prized tools and in some cases family heirlooms destroyed as "offensive" objects? God willing we'll never find out.
