Uberti and Pietta 1873 .45 Colt Revolvers

Well, I'm not an expert on firearms engineering but I suspect that 14,000 PSI will not stress a modern SA revolver in good condition. Seems pretty mild, actually.

I doubt anyone could accurately estimate the life expectancy of a revolver. I am fairly sure we're talking multiples of tens of thousands of rounds. One pro shooter says his 1911s typically go 100,000 rounds before requiring a rebuild.

Will is cracking me up. I hope to be that cranky when I am a senior.

Will, any chance you did a movie a while back? I believe it was called Grand Torino.

I hunt with a Uberti/Ivar Johnson Cattleman in .44 Magnum and I load them about as hot as I can with 240 grain bullets and 22.7 grains of 296. I am splitting some of my older cases but the gun is holding up just fine and these are loadings of 43500 CUP not 14000.

K for a thousand is a meaningless modern invention of ignorence.
Really for the past 150+ years is considered modern. Then what does M stand for as in a Word? Calling every one stupid because they disagree with you is not a good way to get someone interested in your opinion.
Funny that the entire world uses the following designation.
K stands for 1000 like in KHz
M stands for 1,000,000 like in MHz
G stands for 1,000,000,000 like in GHz
By the way you spelt ignorance incorrectly.

Back to the OP's original question . . .

I have a Ruger NV and a Uberti Bisley . . both fine handguns.

If I remember correctly, and I'd have to hunt up my manuals for each ahdngun . . I believe my Ruger is scheduled to self destruct in 2109 and the Uberti Bisley in 2187 . . . so both will outlast me.:D

To me . . . a handgun is a tool . . and I take care of my tools . . . if you don't insist on pushing the limit and loading over max . . they'll probably outlast you and your lifetime . . as well as your kid's. I'v been shooting for 50 + years and if I worried about how long a handgun was going to last . . I probably would never buy one. I regularly shoot a Colt Army Special that is a 105 years old, a Smith M & P that is 62 years old, a German GEW98 8mm that is 110 years old, etc. All of them have mileage on them but they've been well taken care of and will outlast my lifetime and probably the next two generations as well.

My Uberti Bisley is one of the nicest SA revolvers I've ever owned and I regularly shoot a Uberti "51 Navy as well. The Bisley is accurate and a fun gun to shoot. I like the Ubertis enough that the next 3 SA that I buy will be Ubertis.
