searched high and low.

guy has a lever action 357 to trade for my marlin 30-30.

equal guns id say as far as appearance quality. brass receiver. blue band on the front tho. brass buttstock.

dont know much bout the uberti. says its older pre safety gun

any help anyone. ive got some pics but its a pita to post em from work

any help cuz i cant find nothin on an 1892 model of this gun

yeah, i cant find it either, i can find a million uberti 1873 357 lever-actions, and they go for a pretty penny, any way he has the numbers confused?

the winchester is numbered as an 1892

same results i got. waiting to see it in person. hes a good ways away and right now he has it at the gunsmiths getting looked over so i cant get any better pics..buti will...idk..i asked hima few times..seems legit on the model

What you are describing is a Uberti 1866 Yellow boy.
Maybe he's not sure of what he has.
I've never seen a 1892 with a brass receiver and blued barrel band

Somewhere, I have seen a picture of a brass framed 1892 knockoff.
I cannot find it today, but there are some out there.

I wonder how strong and durable it is. The design is stronger than the 1866 but what is it giving up going to a softer metal? I don't know, but maybe that is why they are not more common.

yellowboy is what i thought also..in 38 spl....that would be a nice trade for an AS 30-30.
well idk..i guess ill need to decide when its in my hands.

yall got any feelings towards the ubertis'? i see alot of diff opinions but hard to tell..like everything theygot good and bad ones i guess...
apparently this is an early 70? model?

The movie rental companies plated the receivers of 92's and removed the hand guards to make them look like a Henry. There were no brass framed 1892's made. There were/are several Italian makers producing 1892's but I do not think Uberti is among them.

are you sure it's not brass or gold plated ??? are you sure it's a uberti ???

I have a Brazilian brass receiver & stainless octagon barrel lever gun, they are pretty uncommon... so if it's brass & not gold or brass plated, maybe a mixed parts gun or trial version ???

anyway... I posted so if you got the pics figured out, I get to see it ;)

You can open a Photobucket account (it's free), and upload the pics from your computer. When you view it in your library, off to the right are options for sharing the pics. Click on the link next to "IMG" and it will automatically copy the link. You can then just paste it into the body of your post and it will show up. It will already have the necessary URL and IMG tags in place.

geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez finally

it actually does. the onewiththe rd barrel looks alot like it.
has the same front sight
the lever w/o the safety is the same
that could very well have solved the mystery sir. i never came across those pics...and i have done alot of looking
thanks alot

so if it is a rossi in fact..that would make it a pretty good trade then right?

.

The pics look like a brass-receiver Rossi M92, which is currently on their website ( http://www.rossiusa.com/product-details.cfm?id=169&category=8&toggle=&breadcrumbseries= ).

AFAIK, Uberti never made a Model 92, but another Italian gunmaker (Chiappa/Puma) does.

(FWIW, "Puma" is a trademark name, wholly-owned by Legacy Sports/LSI, who once assigned use of the name to Rossi, but has currently assigned it's use to Chiappa - why there's both South Amarican & Italian "Puma's")
