U.N. Sex for Food Scandal

I think Lord Acton's comments on the ability of power to corrupt is what's at work within the UN mindset.

Power without accountability is pretty much the definition of the way the UN operates. That's a recipe for abuse if there ever was one.

Can you imagine the power trip when high commissioner muckety-muck thinks he represents the will of the entire planet? Same with "peacekeepers." "We're here representing planet earth, and we're here to help." I can see how such an attitude could easily devolve into "we can do no wrong because we're so well-intentioned," and further into "our troops need a little R&R and these little girls are willing; we're feeding them aren't we?" All this can happen especially if there's nobody around to hold them accountable.

And because the organization is not accountable to even common sense, you end up with the worst human rights abusers on their Human Rights Commission, in addition to other scandals mentioned previously. That kind of lack of accountability has obviously filtered to every facet of this corrupt organization. And as Bolton recently learned, true reform of their corruption isn't possible because the henhouse is populated almost entirely by foxes.

And people wonder why we've withheld "our share" of the UN operating budget at different times.

Handy, personal responsibility

So, are we saying that the UN seeks and recruits criminals, or somehow makes normal people become sex offenders?

These people are all adults, and were that way when they took the job. I'm just wondering how much you can blame any organization for the immorality its employees choose.

Handy,

1. we are always responsible for our action or lack of action, no matter what the circumstances,

2. people respond to incentives and punishment

If you do a web search, you will find that corruption or pedophilia cases involving UN is not exactly new...it has being going on for quite some time..

If an organization doesn't actively persecute and punish immoral or criminal behavior, that kind of behavior is likely to persist among its members who are predisposed to it. How about ethical people who join such an organization? They would either turn a blind eye to it, allowing wrongdoings to persist or drop out of the organization because they can't allow being a silent accomplice to it.

I've met fair number of emigrants from Africa. In Africa, government corruption and bribery are extremely common. However, when these people come to U.S., they hardly ever engage in bribery. Reason: in U.S., you are punished if you engage in bribery (there are laws against it and it's actively enforced).

The media sure was quick to convict and persecute the the Marines for the Hodifa issue, MASSACRE, BLOOD BATH, BIGGEST COVERUP IN WORLD HISTORY.
But when it comes to, as the liberal media LOVES to call em, "un peace keepers" raping kids for fun, we hardly hear a thing.

I may just buy an old German helmet from Cheaper Than Dirt, paint it blue, shoot some holes in it and put it on a stake in my front yard. Freedom of speech and all that.
