TX - Lt. Gov. Patrick Defies NRA to Support UBCs

Honestly the best way to get to them is through the wallet. If you donate even a small annual amount ($25-100) to their campaign fund you will be on their mailing list. Later when they are feeling that weakness in their knees you strengthen the resolve by telling them you won't be sending them any more money due to the changes in their beliefs no longer representing who you are. It's surprising how responsive politicians are to even small donors.

Just make sure you give them your spam Email address some of them (Rand Paul, looking your way) will bomb you with email three times a day during the week and nine times a day on the weekend.

While the OP refers to Texas' Lt Gov, I see our erstwhile OH-IO governor mentioned. DeWine is in his last political office, no plans to ever run again, unlike his predecessor. But he's a Republican with an overwhelmingly Republican legislature. They want to get reelected, and they know Ohio is a true swing state. I mean we have a conservative Republican and a liberal Democrat for Senators. So they are all checking the pulse of their district. They raised the gas tax, somewhat of a surprise. And they will almost surely pass a "red flag" law. UBC? My guess is they will let Congress take the heat for that.

In politics, you can stake out a few "no compromise" positions, but too many on the wrong side of the electorate, and you're suddenly a political commentator. Just political reality. I don't know whether Mark Twain or Judge Tucker said it first, but, "No man's life, liberty or property are safe while the legislature is in session."
